DX8 switch assignment

As stated in another thread,

As anyone been able to assign throttle hold to gear (back left)??

As mine is having none of it,BUT according to the manual you can,
Spoke HH today and they said you should be able to do it??

As i've been flying my dsx9 for the last 2.5 years
i'm now too used to it to change

Enter sytem setup / F mode setup alter hold from hold / hold to hold / gyro seems to work

I too have a DX9 and am trying to do exactly the same thing.

Gaza I can get the gyro switch to work but not the back left switch (Gear).

Anyone managed to get this sorted?

Heres how mine was setup power on with roller depressed to enter system setup

scroll to sw select (switch select) these are all set to inh (inhibited)
now scroll to f mode setup
you should have at the bottom hold: hold alter this to hold: gyro and re test this works fine on my dx8 and does not affect the operation of the gyro on the front switch

In my gyro menu I have ch: gear sw: gyro

Just tried this on mine, I still can't see how I can assign the throttle hold to the gear switch. I currently have my idle up on rudder D/R and the gyro to the Aux 2 or Gov switch on the front.

Tried the above, all this seems to do is move my gyro to the gyro switch. I still can't assign the Hold to the gear. The only option is AUX3 or inhibit.

Are you sure your in the right menu not the switch select the but the F-Mode Setup

I can change the F-mode settings and change the Hold to Gyro, bit I can't see what this achieve's ???.

Just tried again, and watched the front screen whilst flicking the Hold switch. It does work, but I don't understand why.

Will check using the model tomorrow, but looks like a good work around.

I think its because the gyro defaults to the gyro switch on the front, and normaly wouldnt the switch on channel 5 be gear if that makes sense that is, it just works
I dont actualy use this configuration coz its dsx9 style I use the default because my other radio is a dx7

Doesn't seem to affect any of the gyro settings in the transmitter, but its a bit late to start going out to the garage and check on a model. I thought you would still have to assign the hold to the gear switch, but obviously not the case.

A bit of a strange work around, but if it puts my hold switch back in the left hand corner, I'm happy.

Does this method still work with the version2 firmware?

I have tried following this and just get the Flap/Gyro switch controlling both Gyro and Hold. I can't get it to activate Hold with the Gear switch.

My settings are:
- all Switch Select to Inh
- Flight Mode: Rud D/R
- Hold: Gyro

In the gyro menu I have Ch: Gear, Sw:Gyro

My plan was to keep my 9x2 at work to get in some lunchtime flying and use my DX8 at home for proper use, so it would be very nice if they could be setup the same! I will make a mistake at some point otherwise.
