Its not going to be an expensive scale model as the guns are the experiment. I shall be starting with a spare SJM 400 air frame and all I need to to is to get it in the air and and see if the payload is sufficient to carry the lightest gun that I can make. It may be that I need only one extra channel in which case by using a rate gyro I may be able to use channel 5 of the Futaba TX to fire the gun.Originally posted by smithysamrc View PostSo, your planning on spending £100's? on this scale heli with working guns, that im sure will be very nice.
If you use the cheap radio gear on this heli and the radio gear fails, you would have completely demolished £100's into the ground.
Why not just build your nice scale heli and then buy some nice advanced radio gear, like the DX6i or DX7, then you'll be certain that the radio gear will not fail...Happy flying.
Dont going buying cheap crap just because you want the heli in the air as soon as possible.

If thats the case and you dont have any extra channels on your radio gear at the moment, why not just buy something like the DX5E second hand, and a light spektrum receiver second hand.
You could use your futaba tx and rx for the actual heli itself, and then ue serperate spektrum radio gear to control the 'add on's' like the guns .. etc.
So therefore you would be having 2 recievers onboard the heli, one that controls the heli itself and then one that controls the 'add on's'.
You could use a simple light battery pack for the serperate receiver as you would only be using servos to control the ad on's.
Oh, and obviously you would have to have someone else with the other transmitter to control the guns.
This would be quite good as then you could pay alot of attention in controlling the heli very scale like, instead of loosing consentration having to moves the guns while trying to fly scale.
If you dont understand this what i mean, then i will draw out a diagram for you and post it in this thread.
Hope this is of interest

Looking at the specs of that Chinese stuff, it says "PCM or PPM" !!! No mention of spread spectrum.....!!!
Or did it lose something in translation?
I wouldn't touch it with a barge-pole!
Why not simply stick to 35 MHz? Plenty of good 2nd hand stuff around, prices have dropped through the floor because of 2.4 GHz frenzy, and useage has slumped!
Only TWO 35 MHz trannies checked in at Charmouth! A couple of years ago it wan't unusual to queue for half-an-hour for a peg!

No matter how much you push the envelope, it'll still be stationery.

I have a 35.200mHz transmitter and receiver for sale if you are interested.Originally posted by pchristy View Post

Both the tx and rx are 6ch.
Came from an old Esky chopper that i no longer have.
No extra channels, but if you just wanting to see if the heli will take off with the guns, then i could sell you the radio gear.
Both tx and rx are ready to use, just plug in the electrics and off you go.
I'll sell you both the tx and rx for £20
