To risk or not to risk...

I have just sent off one of my spektrum recievers to horizon hobby due to me pulling the aerial wire off by mistake, and tonight have managed to do the same on my 600's reciever. It's only one side on the reciever in my 600, all the other antenna's are fine and is binding and controlling the heli fine.

I was wondering, to let me fly it sunday, you think i could risk flying it like this? or would it not be very ideal?

Gotta weigh up the risks mate.

Miss a weekeneds flying which although a pain in the butt costs nothing

Risk flying, crash and cause £££ of damage

Bite the bullet and go out and buy a new one, get the old one fixed and sell to recoup some costs.

If it were me, i would not risk flying it. If you really want to fly, go buy a new one

I flew my 600 for a few weeks with a antenna missing of the satalite and had no issues what so ever

A quick telephone call to Horizon advising of your problem might encourage a swift repair at their end, as has been said before they are very very helpful folks. I have seen them receive, repair and dispatch an item all in the same day and that is just their standard service.

Fingers crossed you get flight ready for the weekend.

i wouldn't risk it, i'd buy a replacement or borrow one from someone before i would fly a heli with a damaged / incomplete rx missing a days flying isn't great but better that the cost and time of a rebuild. besides weathers not looking great for the weekend

Horizon Top Service

My guess is yuu will get the RXs back by weekend, 2 weeks ago I sent mine of on a Wednesday pm and was surprised to get a parcel on Saturday morning with the RX all done and checked and no charge requested.
Great customer service.
Worth giving them a call as sugested though.

Paul, it's a miracle that Flasher 600 even came back at all, so one aerial missing is a bit of a bonus!

First off I would fully expect you to get your receiver back before the weekend, Horizon are very quick turning stuff around.

However do you know anyone that can solder to a reasonably competent level? If so it's actually quite a simple solder job if you are careful. You need to split the case open. De-solder whats left of the original wire on the board and solder some new ariel wire on. Just cut it to the same length and you will be good to go.

I wouldn't fly myself with a broken aerial, just my point of view.

If a heli isn't 100% right I won't fly it until it's fixed.

Which is why it's a good idea (and excuse) to have two or more .
