  • JR 9xii Gyro Settings

A question for Ade maybe, or anyone else who's good with one of these Txs?

I currently have the gyro control set to channel 5 on my 9xii, with the usual positive and negative end points giving me one heading hold mode value and one normal mode value for my gyro operation. I've got it like this on all my helis.

But, I'm thinking about activating the Gyro Sens function on the transmitter, which means that I now plug the gyro lead into channel AUX2 (channel 7) instead of 5, and can then assign a (say) heading hold gyro setting for each flight mode as required.

Great, that's what I want....... but, how do I now change between heading hold and normal mode?

Do I now need to assign a mix between a 2 postion switch (say the channel 5 switch as master) and the gyro channel 7 as slave with a +100%, -100% straight line curve (so to speak!)?

Would this now allow me to have a seperate gyro setting for each flight mode, and be able to switch between HH and Normal in each flight mode?

You set it with the % value of the settings on the gyro screen. Under 50% is Rate and over 50% is HH I think. you then assign each mode to an Idle up position depending on whether you require it to be Rate or HH

Bearing in mind it works extremely well with Futaba gyros but is more awkward with CSM's because they seem to need to see a higher % point to get them working correctly. Just done this on my Rappy and with the settingsd at 0% and 100% it is still not anywhere near the wag point

Yes, but I want the opportunity to run heading hold or rate in all flight modes.

i.e. set it up as you say with HH in flight modes NRM, ST1, ST2 and HLD but then be able to switch to rate in any one of those flight modes at any time with a seperate switch.

Just enable the Rudd/DR switch and don't use the auto switching setting

I had the "0% tp 100% gyro settings makes no difference" problem when I first got my 9xii. That was because I had the gyro plugged into channel 5, and the 'Gyro Sens' function on the 9xii is connected to channel 7. Hence, I disabled the Gyro Sens function, and alter the gain using the end-points for channel 5.

Good thinking - can the Rudder DR be set to a negative value?

Maybe I should spend an hour with new copied 'phantom' model setup to work this out using the servo monitor screen to suss out what's happening?

The problem is at the moment - finding that hour!

I don't use the gyro sense function on my 9x2 inhibit it and straight into gear... and just use the atv's, saves alot of confusion

But what if I want to use channel 5 for something else like retracts or an engine governor or whatever?

I now want to be able to switch from say 70% gyro in HH mode to 70% gyro in rate mode, in any flight mode, at any time, via a single 2 position switch.

Hence the idea about a spare switch to channel 7 mix, permanently active, which would simply multiply the current gain value by -1.

i'll bring up a spare model memory and have a play... my govenor's on the idle up switch and only comes on in st2

Surely just using the Rudd/DR switch does this if you select it instead of Auto? Flick to IU2 and you can have Rudd/DR set to HH or Rate depending on its position up or down ?

                          Not sure.

If you have say 80% gyro and a 50% DR setting, then flicking the DR would then give you 40% gyro (i.e. under 50%), but surely the rate equivalent of 80% HH is 20%?

I'm assuming therefore that 100% HH is at 100% gyro setting, and 100% rate is at 0% gyro setting, with 0% gyro at 50% gyro setting.

                          Confused?

I want to assign this function to the front top switch on the left hand side if possible. I use the rear one on the left for throttle hold.

This will then leave channel 5 completely clear for future plans.

i've read through the post a bit more and see what you getting at.. don't think its possible... especialy without using a mix
