A chap called Steve Roberts rang me this morning from MacGregor stating that he can shorten the travel and adjust the potts on my DSX9 sticks making it the same travel (end to end) distance as my DX7.

All boxed up and returned to MacGregor today so will report back with the results next week hopefully.

That'll be interesting to know how you get on once its been done, I found mine did have longer travel but found it better & improved my flying though I had only done two tanks.

I must say I have really enjoyed using my DX7 this last week (probably 25 flights and flown better than ever) so it has really built my confidence up.

Its a known fact that the travel on the more expensive DSX9 is not comfortable when using the set shall we say stick banging.

Unless your thumbs are 3 inches long your hands will be constantly moving along the edge of your radio.

I appreciatte your excitement now you have used your new DSX9 radio Jim but with the highest respect unless you are using the full travel of the sticks (stick banging) you won't appreciatte the problems what I have.

I have used mine over the last year pottering around learning but have started to give it some stick now so this is how it came about mate.

I've never really noticed the difference in throw on these radios until reading recent posts regard DSX9 vs. DX7 and bearing mods on the DX7. Now I haven't gone out with intent to thoroughly examine both radios together, but I've noticed a difference when playing on the sim at my house on a DSX9 and at my cousins’ house on a DX7.

There is a noticeable difference between the two radios as one could clearly see, I am not sure of how noticeable compared to the other radios on the market and/or the standard it should be set to; the DSX9 has more throw indeed. Someone previously mentioned this as 'feeling like lots of expo', in my eyes this is again true but just overlooked - I just thought the DSX9 had a different expo structure using less expo compared to the same setting on a DX7.

Why do I find it easier to pratice piro flips, using the 'stiring motion', at my cousins? I'm guessing the lesser throw makes it easier not having to move your thumb that extra few mms! Well that could be one excuse for why they are so unpredictable, honest

It has been over a year since I last used a Futaba radio and haven't played with their new range of 2.4GHz above 6 chan. What is the 10CHG like for stick throw, compared to the DX7/DSX9; does it have equal, more or less throw?

Presumably that's the Steve Roberts who flies two JR Sylphides, is in the UK FAI team and keeps winning all the UK FAI events, and I thought he worked at Motors & Rotors.

I've seen him fly and it's very impressive, if you like that kind of thing.

As I quoted along with a couple more sponsored pilots I know have changed back to the DX7 because of the excess travel on the sticks on the DSX9.

Try it for yourself mate, You will notice more when executing manouvres that want "Full throws" on the sticks.
Sorry to bring this thread up again, but this further travel is giving me problems when trying manouvers like piroflips, I still use both dx7 and dsx9 but on the 9 I am really struggleing, has anyone got any suggestions as a way around it I did think of a cyclic ring which has a smaller movment then have full throw at the limits of the stick, obviously without the ring it would bind but this shouldnt be a problem sith it on there, any thoughts?
                            All the best
                            Tony.
