The flashing lights mean that the rx lost power and got it back again.
If you disconnect the rx and reconnect it, but leave the tx switched on all the time - then you get the flashing lights becuase it thinks it got a powwer problem.
If you always switch both rx and tx off and switch them both on again, you will not get the flashing lights and the lights will comeon solid.
If you have a power supply to the receiver that is not up to the job, then when you take off with the led solid, it might be flashing when you land. Meaning it was close to failing during the flight, or in fact it did fail momentarily. The flashing lights are a warning of this problem.www.heli-extreme.co.uk a good club in south Sheffield

It happened to me. Turned out the tx was too close. If you move it away it's ok. It mentions it in the manual but I hadn't noticed it. Once it starts flashing you have to cycle the tx to reset it. It is also a fault indicator as the others said.Flasher 450 Sport. Assan GA250 with 520 tail servo, MKS DS450 cyclic.

I don't know what I did to stop the lights flashing. I usually start up the rx first then I know that my gyro will initialise to the bound value stored in the rx and the lights don't come on. If I start the tx first the gyro doesn't seem to start the same because I think the rx output changes from the bound rx values to the current tx ones while the gyro is initialising.
All I did was read the instructions and I didn't believe them until it worked.
I was really convinced the problem was the sparks coming from connecting the Deans together.Flasher 450 Sport. Assan GA250 with 520 tail servo, MKS DS450 cyclic.

Connecting the rx (and therefore the esc and motor) first is bad practise as you are not in control of the heli.Originally posted by cjcj1949 View PostI don't know what I did to stop the lights flashing. I know that the esc should prevent the motor from spinning up but you should always be in full control of your model at all times.
Switch the TX on first followed by the Rx never the other way round.
It is also in the BMFA guidelines/rules.

i am with adrain on this one although it does say it dosent matter witch one you switch on first in the manual so i just make sure the tranny is at least 4ft away before i switch on the rx having first switching the tx.Originally posted by cjcj1949 View PostI don't know what I did to stop the lights flashing. The BMFA part is the killer; but from a technical perspective I'd happilly argue that with DSM2 it's safer to power up the Rx before the Tx.Originally posted by machasm View PostConnecting the rx (and therefore the esc and motor) first is bad practise as you are not in control of the heli.

A correctly functioning DSM2 Rx won't send a pulse to the ESC (at all) until it's connected to a Tx.
If the Rx isn't functioning correctly, all bets are off anyway.Yes, it's th@ tw@ Scallyb@...
