  • DX7 power problem

on opening the box to my new dx7 i felt like a kiddy at xmas.

that was untill i swithed on for less than 2 min and it read 10.5v

it will not power up at all and as i am new to all this i didnt know about the charger lead not being in the box. so i now have to wait 2 more days to start playing. that is if it is the pack thats at falt.

    anyone else had this problem

keep a smile on ya face
    cheers,

If the pack voltage (on the screen) said 10.5 volts, I think it's highly unlikely you have drained it to nothing in 2 minutes.
What's more likely is the fuse has gone... perhaps?

    Try this thread.

I wouldn't worry just yet, there is a very god chance it will be fine when charged.

The NiMH batteries are renowned for losing charge while stored. The voltage may have just shown 10.5v as it have been sat unloaded for a while, but then dropped off quickly when loaded.

When your charger arrives, give it a good 16 hour charge before having a play as NiMH batteries do benefit from a full initial charge.

      Good luck

What worries me is people are buying new DX7's and the fuse is blowing..

        Why.???

It would certainly concern me that taking your heli to the air the bloody fuse can blow and we all know the rest..

A fuse doesnt blow for nothing, There must be a problem..

I will have a look and see if the fuse has blown b4 i put it on charge but if it has blown
then i think i will be taking it back for a replacement

The last thind i need is the fuse to go again and end up picking bits of
my heli up out of the field.

thanks for the advice off to look for the fuse
          cheers,

I agree Tim, something seems a bit odd...
As far as I know, it doesn't happen while in use - i.e. if you switch it on and it comes one - it will stay on.
I thin kthe fuse can blow when you switch it on?
I'm sure of it blowing when connecting (or disconnecting?) a charger lead (ono occasion... not every time!), but not sure of the exact cause.

I've had one fuse blown in my set, and it wasn't near a charger at the time, to the best of my recollection, although human memory is pretty crap generally (flawed) and easily changed by the imagination or suggestion

Basically, if we don't write down the specifics of what happened and in what order shortly after the event, we might just get a fact or two wrong through bad recollection
            Cheers,

does the dx7 have a diode in the charging circuit like the jr versions? to prevent battery discharger via charging lead, i normal charge mine but taking the battery out and using my chamaleon charger.

oh yes nimh's voltage do suddenly drop off and self discharge.
