You also get 2 7 ch Spectrum RXs for free when you buy the module.

But presumably you lose some special features, like modelmatch (and maybe servosync?). Presumably there's also an extra level of lag as the transmitter sends PPM and it's re-encoded by the module, not that I'd ever notice it.

I was thinking purely about helis. I realise that some mixes are missing from the dx7 for 4 servo wing gliders and stuff like that. Are they also impossible with to achieve with the pmixes?
I met a guy who said he needed more than 7 channels so he could plug his voltspy in to the rx - the point is some folks need to re-asses if they really need the extra channels or not There are some folks who are just uncomforatable if there are no spare sockets on their rx.

The Dx7 has only 5 point pitch curves - if it had more then you can make the hover point less sensitive and have a load of pop on the collective with some sort of double S curve. Also maybe you get a virtual cyclic ring so you can put the stick in the corner and have no binding yet still have max roll and elevator.
But some if not all of that can be achieved with a CSM bikelock.

Also on a high end tx you get loads of points on the throttle curve - but you dont really need them if you have a governor.

Maybe you want an extra channel for in flight mixture control, and just maybe that can be linked to the thottle curve to makeup for poor carb design (I don't know, maybe I invented a feature of mixture curve ) but you don't need that with a carb smart.

anyway that was some of the point I was trying to make.
If you want remote control bomb release, gun turrets, retracts and a switch to light your pipe, unfold the deck chair and bring your slippers then of course you need all the features that a £800 tx might have and maybe more
I'm sure the extra £250 compared to a DX7 will be immediately obvious from the way your model flies (and no doubt you will be very popular at McGregor )

I have no problem with the feel of the DX7. I was brought up on a sanwa stak4, and then took a backwards step to a skyleader with awful sticks. Any modern tx feels great to me. I thought the sticks on a friends walkera were really quite good...

The DSX9 is really nice radio in the hand, like the JR9X and has all the features that most of us could ever want. The only real issue at present is the price !!!
I think that, as was said earlier, if we stay cool and wait a little longer and see if Macgregor see the error of their ways ? Maybe the price will get reviewed and we won't all feel as if we are being ripped off ?
As I get further news I will post it.

Hi Guys, I reckon Macman has tried his best to keep costs down but there is only so much he can do.

With all the extra certification nonsense there is only one way the price was going to go...and that was up. Add to that, the pound has taken a bit of a battering in the last few weeks + youve got UK import Duty/Taxes..

                Barney,

You are quite correct.. The UK certification has been an absolute nightmare from what I understand.. and also an expensive nightmare.

Coupled with the Yen/Pound exchange rate drop it's left importers of Japanese products in a poor situation.

Although the JR stuff is based on Spektrum technology there is a difference in that the JR badged parts are all made in Japan unlink the Spektrum badged equipment. So the Yen/Pound issue has hit the JR badged parts more than the Spektrum equivalents.

The Yen issue is what has also hit the Vibe 50 prices.. it was getting so bad MacG's were literally punting them out the door for nothing.. which if you want to stay in business is an impossible position to keep.

All we can hope is that the markets settle back down... but with the current "credit crunch" who knows what is going to happen?

                Cheers

                Mark

                  Put in a nutshell Brian..

As much as I think the pricing is way too high I can't honestly see any reduction in these radio's for a long time.

Because I am without my own radio and have been for 3 month I have had to pay the £399.99 for the TX only.

Good luck to anyone in reducing the price of these sets but I don't think its going to happen.

                      Ripped Off again

Once again another company is viewing the UK as a cash cow and ripping us off. I have always been a JR man but the price of this system is well over the top. I simply cannot believe that this is down to the type approval, after all the modules and the Spektrum transmitters have been approved already. This is essentially the same as a 9XII but with the DSM module fully integrated. I was going to get one because I like the model match and servo synch, but at this price I think I`ll either leave it or get a grey import DSx9.

Well just got home and have my DSX9 in hand.

Its my first JR tranny and after hearing the positive reviews on them I firmly back-up what has been written about them.

30 model memory.. (must buy some more helis)

The menu is a synch to scroll round after I thought I would be struggling but its very easy.

I heard someone mention they look quite plastic looking. Well I think it looks superb, Havent yet had a flight with it as I am still changing models over from the DX7 but really pleased with it £400 or not.

So it's £400 for the TX only & no battery?
I am still thinking about getting one as my lad seems keen to try helis & I already have a DX7 & a JR trainer lead.
Hmmmmm, the jury is still out I need convincing.

It comes in a sexy black box!

The only problem I have so far is the Flight mode switch is on the Right & the Hold switch is on the Left, Doh..

When I started out I was going to buy a FF9, but after handling the 9XII I opted for that, not because it was a better spec, (as a newbie at the time I wouldnt have known what was technically the best) but to me the JR "felt" right and that was my reason for buying. I am sure the new DSX9 is similar to that. If I were to change to 2.4Ghz then I would probably be happy to pay a little more for that comfortable feel.
