To be fair i know that these high amp numbers that get logged are often very brief transients that last less than a second. A friend of mine flies a Trex 700 with a Hobbywing 80a HV ESC and it's been ok so far, he flies 'sports' style aerobatics but is young and quite aggressive with the heli (compared to me anyway!)... So obviously it can work, but i prefer to have a bit more overhead on my ESC rating.

yes I get that 100% more is always better lol
just that I have the CC80 sat on the side doing nothing so thought for what I want to do with it it would be good enough for now at best it might loop and roll and I am very smooth with the way I fly
I struggle with hard 3D flying as at heart I am a glider man and I fly my planes very smooth and slow I just wanted to make this 700 for blasting around fast and low to shut the old farts up at the club :-)

I'll just mention as well, if you use lighter packs like 4000mah instead of 5000 you'll also draw less amps due to just having a lighter overall weight. Lower headspeeds will make the biggest difference in amp draw / flight times.Kasama, Minicopter, Henseleit, JR, Shape, Beam

Unfortunately they will be 5000 6s 40c packs as I have 16 packs already that I use in my big planes
All the rest are 3300 6c 50c packs so a bit small
The CC80 will have to do till I can afford something bigger and I will just have to take it easy I have a dater logger I can stick in line to see what its doing so that should be useful to try

I only have logging on one of mine, the Minicopter Triabolo. My average amps were generally around 30-35 amps with very short transient peaks hitting 100 or just slightly higher but only for fractions of a second. This was at headspeeds around 1400, pitch range is about 13.5. I have a logger I can just stick in between the batt and controller I use it in most things to check whats going on
I have a fair few packs as 98% of my stuff is electric I have 5 duo charger and few single ones
have a lovely 24v charging station I built in a case with 2 duo chargers 1000w and I can add more to it if needed the club has a 3kv generator and I have a nice Honda one my self so well covered there

The two lighter 700s I have (TDR and Faifa) can actually fly quite well on really small packs, down to 2600mah 30C, only for about 5 or 6 minutes. But those are very light helis and I am flying mostly at below 1300 headspeed. Still, I was quite amazed they would fly on such tiny packs.Kasama, Minicopter, Henseleit, JR, Shape, Beam

That's good 5+ min flights on packs that small
I only got the 700"s as I have so many big packs kicking around and I get fed up at times taking the 100cc + planes as they take up so much space and I need to take so much with me
Where when I get the 700`s done I can have 8 flights with out even charging at the field and with the 600 4 flight and the 500 the same so a days flying really with out charging if I cant be bothered to charge at the field

I have a Cc 120 HV that you can have for £50 if you want. The 120 will do the job you describe fine. I knocked the shit out of a 700 fitted with the 120 for years before I eventually went to a 160 and that's with aggressive 3D flying throughout. Good collective management required though.

Personally and from experience I wouldnt go below a 120A esc, I appreciate I fly quite hard but if I look at the logs on my CC120HV im regularly going above that rating, albeit for a very short time. Most of the guys I fly with tend to prefer a 160 in their 700's but they tend to be smack pilots anyway.
