  • Soldering a cut lead

    My tail servo lead got mangled so I just soldered them together will it be OK?

      It depends on your soldering. We can't see how good it is with the heatshrink on. If you got a good flow of solder with both wires and the solder hot and the joint wasn't moved until the solder had set it will be ok. Pulling is a good test. You could also shrink over the joint on both sides to avoid a pull on just one wire.

        It will be fine but if it was mine I would solder a new lead on. You have expensive servos don't you ?

          I stagger the joints when I do a repair like that, so they can't short against each other, then I shrink another piece over the full repair.

            I was going to do that but I trued to take servo apart to see how easy it would be and it looks a bit tricky to solder a new lead on.

                We used to do that on a regular basis when installing individual servos in Plank wings.
                Been there and done that, but never stop learning.
                Now too many Helis to mention?

                    Difficult to do a neat job on these leads, but yours look okay to me. If you can't pull it apart and the servo works, job's a goodun.
