  • Gyro & FBL Combination

    Hi All

Hope this isn't a stupid question but I've decided to order a decent Gyro to mount on my 700 alongside the G3 FBL System, my question is reference the wiring situation.

Being that the FBL was meant to replace the Gyro where do the plugs locate when you use both as I can't getthe tail to stop twitching?

As I say I haven’t got the Gyro yet so hope this isn't a question that should be self evident when looking at the wiring setup?

    Thanks

    John

unplug the FBL gyro cables from the rx and plug your new gyro into the rx.

That's all there is to it, I run the 3G with a CSM 720 doing the tail....... to get rid of that damn twitch and the poor pirouette consistency on the 3G.

      That almost sounds too easy

Thanks for the very quick reply.

Well I never thought that would be possible!

This was a most timely post - My Quark arrived an hour ago at my work place so having read the whole instruction booklet (Yes a first for me) I spent ten minutes of my lunch break installing the Gyro inside my 700 nose cone.

I have small warehouse which is just big enough to hover my 700 in with a few feet either side, the darn thing sat two feet off the floor and looked like it was cemented there!!!!

I've yet to adjust the gain setting, will do that at the field on the way home but I couldent believe the Gyro straight out of the box has stopped that damn tail twitch instantly, I have a grin only a heli flier would understand

The Quark is so small the additional weight is probably less than the bug guts I collect on the rotors when flying

          Well Chuffed

..hadn't noticed you'ld gone fbl.. but as far as the quark is concenred.. Yup!.. the 780 on my 700n build couldn't be sorted to give a solid tail but like you the quark was an instant solution.. I've never even adjusted the gain on mine.. put it on, it worked, left it alone..it works...

Yeah the FBL option was a spur of the moment decision, about thirty seconds after I saw I'd been paid my bonus this month

Kinda waiting for V2, I like the feel of it compared to other FBL systems just think it needs some updates and programmability ...... my long winded version of this is here --> Align 3G Flybarless - V1 interim review

Well I have just got back indoors again (still freezing cold as I type this) from testing my 700 Flybarless for the first time with a GY520 gyro fitted to it.

I hate to say it but the difference is night and day..

The 3G tail gyro is utter pants compared to the GY520 I have tested tonight.

I have had 4 tanks tonight and can honestly say it has transformed both the heli and my flying.

Having a tail that's locked in and a piro rate that's consistent each way just changes everything.

John, you will be well pleased chum.

see what V2 brings Tim, I think the problem on the 3G tail is it's oversensitive, if V2 backs it off or offers some internal config it might be possible to get it a lot better than with V1. Having said that, I'll still unplug it and plug the CSM 720 in

Stopped by the field on the way home and was amazed at how rock solid the tail is in the hover.

Sadly I still have a problem when powering up I get a rapid twitching tail which only eases when I turn the gain down to about 40% which of course means it's no longer holding the tail.

I've been searching for weeks for the illusive source of my vibration having replaced almost everything bit by bit trying to track down the anomaly!

I'm really chuffed the heli will now hover rock solid so having scoured numerous "Wobbly Tail Threads" I'm off now to carry on my search for "Dodgy Components"

That's vibration.... move the gyro from the front gyro mount to the rear on the boom clamp, should fix it.

We need the odd rash moment to keep life exciting! I was waiting for the newer crop of fbl units to get beta tested but then had a really rash (unheli) moment and I'm waiting to see if that deal goes through... not willing to share right now...'cos it's seriously mad and may fall through but I'll send you a PM
