I personally use Spartans and V bar but i think the best stand alone gyro i have flown is the 720,but i dont like the design of the 720 with all the plugs going into it.If CSM re cased it more like the Align Gyro or the Spartan i would swap my Spartans for 720`s in a heartbeat.

Seen that Chris,but its well old the thread....plus this ones a 'Favourite' gyro

So if you have say 2 heli's,one with a 401 and one with a spartan you can vote for your fav

Plus ive added hong kong phooeys and Align

No worries Nick i assumed you had seen Matts thread but just pointing out that its got some good info in there.

Just voted in this thread too,the 720 which i dont actually own but basing it on performance rather than design.

The favourite that i do own would be the V bar over the Spartan without question.

So far I have always been happy with the Futaba GY401. So it has become the standard I judge other gyros by. But I am not doing any really demanding flying just yet, so for me I'm happy if it just keeps the tail where I left it and doesn't wag or drift.

I'm going to try a CSM 560 soon and have a couple older CSMs on two helis I will get flying in the near future.

I have also ordered a super cheap gyro for the 450 that seems fairly well spoken about (HK401B), so if it can replace the GY401 I'll be impressed.

Have two 401s am just in the prossess of fitting a gy520. Have seen these perform and they look awsome.

Got Spartans or 720's in all mine. If I had to choose one I'd probably go for 720 but it would be a close call...

I voted for the G401B (HK clone) - I have 4 of them 1 on a 250, 2 on 450s and one on a 500 - they are dirt cheap, work very well and are dead easy to set up

my main heli has a 720 on it which i love ... my night flyer has a 401 on it will soon be another 720 on it as well

using the GP750 it so simple to set up
