  • DS620 Dead

    Hi guys

Just returned from the field having had half a flight on my 600. For several weeks now the tail has been a little unsteady. Today, however, halfway thru my first tank of gas, the DS620 just stopped working.

Having looked at my log book, it's literally only flown for about 65 minutes.

I'm gonna try a warranty claim but, before I do this, any ideas why it may have died?

    Cheers.

Mine looks OK Dean. Did you claim warranty and, if so, how did you get on?

Yeah had it of midland heli they swapped it straight away as it hardly done any work and died.
Tuff one i guess with yours as it has been going longer and now stopped working but i would say it should be swapped under warranty as it should last way longer than 60 ish flights.
        Cheers

          I#m gonna try. Andf it's not 60 flights, it's 60 minutes. It's actually only about 8 flights.

Hope you get it exchanged, Martin. You certainly should with that amount of use!

Thanks Brian. I got it from Pegasus Models Dean. I just dropped them an email.

                Fingers crossed.

To expand on what Martin has said, the servo was holding a position but not responding to the signal from the Rx or gyro (we tried a couple of channels and circumventing the gyro). As such I suspect the amplifier section is holding the position which I would think is centre.

You should be ok getting it replaced under warranty as its not fit for purpose, look forward to hearing how you get on... if not then stick the 9254 on the 600 and stick the 9257 on the 500

Cheers Rob. I may well buy another tail servo anyway. No ill stock eh? I might standardise and get another S9254 for the 600.

                    Good to see ya BTW.

Update: Just spoke to Pegasus who asked me to return it to them for repair/replacement as required. So it sounds promising! Needless to say, it's on it's way back to Norwich right now.

My only concern is that I'm questioning whether I'll trust them again. My S9254 on my 500 hasn't missed a beat...

My 610 on throttle packed up a 9 months ago. That said I have had 5 other 610 that have done 24 gallons in my 700 without missing a beat.

Edited it to say FL just swapped it for another new one.

Well, it's back with the shop now. Fingers crossed that they honour the warranty.

                            Update:

Just 10 minutes ago, like at 1945, I had a call from Craig at Pegasus Models who said he'd only just opened the post, got my servo and note and is going to put a new one in the post first thing in the morning.

                            Can't be bad eh?
