  • Logictech LT2100 gyro set up

    Hi,

I have a Logictech LT2100 gyro and a DS520 tail servo on my T500 but I am not happy with the set up.

I started off with the gain set at 70% in my TX but straight away the tail was wagging all over the place so in the four flights I've had I have ended up with it set at 25% but it's still wagging abit but now doesn't feel like it's in control. Does anyone have any tips on getting this set up before it causes me a problem as I don't have any confidence in the tail at all. Even with the gain so low the rudder is super sensitive with only a very tiny stick input required to flick it round and then it kind of bounces back like it's on elastic so it's very hard to keep the tail in which is kind of important ATM.

When the heli is powered on the TL light is on on the gyro so it's in tail lock mode, which I presume is the same as heading hold mode as called on other makes but when it's on the ground and you move the rudder is does not centre but I put that down to the gyro not working yet as the head is not spinning and providing any input to the gyro..

as you can see I'm a bit lost on this one.

I followed the set up procedure in the Logictech manual but I will double check this before I do anything else.

    any input appreciated.

    Ta.

I always found with the 2100t that you had to have it setup in rate mode with no drift to get a good lock in head holding mode.

Finless Bob has a setup video on the Hitech HG-5000 which is the same gyro as the 2100t.

Perhaps it might be worth a trip to Helifreak to check this out.

Just watched the vids and I have to say the instructions you get with this gyro are wholey inadequate

No wonder I'm having problems ......

        Thanks again.

I've bunged one on a GAUI EP 100 SE Pro. It's driving a really basic 306BB tail servo, but in spite of that, it's not too bad. (Sharp stop on a l/h pirouette can be messy.) I'm only doing gentle stuff, though.

The only set-up problem I had was getting it set up for a Spektrum receiver. This seemed quite fiddly, but eventually went in ok.

Actually, this might be related to your problem, with the gyro expecting a different 'zero' because it thinks you're using a different kind of Rx. (?)

I've really done nothing clever, and the gyro isn't well mounted. (It's mounted on a (Logictech) pad on top of the elevator servo...)

I had the same problem with the 6100T and watched the videos on that, had no problems after.

            Glad you have it sorted

Sounds like LT has some 'issues' with the quality of their instructions

Time will tell on the sorted front, will find out at the w/e when I fly it again. Will be nice to have some faith in what the tail is doing..

              thanks

They can be a bit unintelligible, but once you're passed the Rx selection bit I found they made more sense.

I've just been flying the SE Pro, and there's no tail drift.

Given the rubbish way I've got it put together (see attached picture, and laugh - the LT2100T is on a pad on top of the elevator servo), and the barely adequate tail servo, the gyro really doesn't do badly.
