  • Revlock sensor positioning

    Hi All,
Just thought I would share this with you since it took me a good couple of hours of head scratching before I figured it out.
I fitted a revlock 10 to my 700 as I wasn't getting consistent results with the align gov.
Anyway, I used the bracket which is 'S' shaped and cut it down so that it was similar to the align sensor in size and shape.
I then fitted the sensor to this, removed the extra magnet from the fan then fitted it all together.
The problem was that the sensor was not being recognised by the RL10 not matter how close I positioned the sensor.
I eventually found that i had to rotate the sensor by 90 degrees so that the magnet cut across the sensor face at right angles instead of running along its length.
In order to achieve this mod I fashioned a small block of wood to fit the sensor to then heatshrunk the whole thing to the bracket.
After this mod the sensor is picked up just fine.
Sorry i dont have any pics of the mod.
    Hope this helps someone.

    Adrian.

Why did you use a revlock sensor and not the align one?

Can you use the align sensor with the RL10?
I know that they have different connectors but is that all?
Could have saved me a whole load of work!

I don't think you can use the same sensor. Revlock sensors are not polarity senseitive. The align one is.

Glad you got it sorted mate

        Cheers
        Cheers Matt

Sorry there machasm, I mis-read your first post. I saw it as the sensor from the revlock with the align governor.

no you cant use the align sensor with the revlock, I had the same problem when I put my 700 together I ended up using a corner of a plastic data cassette case to fashion a new bracket which stood the sensor at 90 degrees to the frame.

Works well looks ok if you can find an angle where you can see it.

I use both the revlock and I have an atg governor so I made sure when I put the magnet in the clutch that it was the right way around so that the atg would read it as well, as has already been said the revlock will read no matter which way up the magnet is.

just as an extra note I got hold of one of the counter weights to put in the other side of the clutch bell, being told the extra weight will make a difference, i'm sceptical but hey for 99p its worth the effort
            All the best
            Tony.
