I just use three indle up modes, so:

    norm 30-30 30 30
    idl1 70 70 70 70
    idle2 100 100 100

This avoids the risk (absolute certainty!) of trying to fly inverted when in 'Norm' mode and finding that the motor shuts down! So just start up by switching out of hold mode.

Graham has auto rotate enabled, which if set up properly will not work as he will not have a 0 to initialize the ESC.....Unless you have another switch as throttle cut...

Granpappy if you post any more graph results could you please include the complete graph like the one I have put in this reply, numbers on the bottom are easier to read than max and min outputs on the lines.

What do you set the Governor gain to please?

I just export the graph as a jpeg. Is the one you show a screenshot image?

From memory gov gain is set to 13 or 14 which is slightly below the default 'low' setting. Higher gain tends to strip the fragile TT drive gears on the trex 600 Pro (ask me how i know!).

Granpappy,What version firmware is on your ESC.-- Yes, screenshot image, also like in post #20 when expanding the graph/or close up it's best to have the top line and bottom line numbers shown to get a complete picture of where lines start and finish, can't tell from the close up if amps actually drop to zero as it is shown in post #20. Top number is variable as to application but around (50 Volts) on your set up and bottom (0). All info is helpful, especially when trying to fault find stuff that's not sat here in front of us.

I'm at work at the moment so can't check but I think it is 4.22. I did run a firmware update on it when I first used the CC Link programme.

One thing that occurred to me is that the esc throttle signal runs the length of the heli body. ESC is at front and FBL is behind main rotor mast. I had to put a short extension on to make it reach. I was wondering whether it might be picking up interference. Perhaps I should put a ferrite ring on it. Just need to find one. What do you think?

Never used extra ones on my helis, I just leave the ferrite ring on the ESC if it is factory fitted, maybe someone else can answer that. Also edited my post #52 please read. Throttle input should be shown on graph if it's logged, can tell from that if it's dropping out.

I always thought that the ferrite choke was to prevent RF noise generated in the ESC from being transmitted to the receiver and causing interference. Pretty much redundant in modern 2.4GHz systems as the frequency generated in the ESC is miles away from the gigahertz band.

Ferrite ring works both ways. It will suppress interference emitted from a conductive cable. It will also suppress interference received by the conductive cable. The throttle cable carries a 1 to 2 khz square wave signal. The esc to motor cables generate high frequency noise depending on motor speed. I was thinking whether I needed to protect the throttle cable from this noise. Just a thought.

Well. I've changed the settings on the ESC as suggested.

I've resoldered the bullets on the motor. In fact I put new bullets on.

I've re-routed all the cabling to minimise any cross interference.

I will fly it again when the opportunity arises. It's going to be windy for the next few days. But as soon as it's flown again then I will update the thread. To be honest I can't think of anything else that can be done.

ESC data below. Heli is now partly trashed.

On the first run I realised I had too much pitch on. Reduced collective and the motor cut and would not spool up. It landed hard.

I then set pitch curve to -5, 20, 35, 55, 85 and tried again. This time pitch was more manageable so I got it in the hover. The wind picked up and it gained height quite rapidly. I reduced collective and the motor cut and would not spool up again on the way down. This time it hit really hard and caused damage.

I guess it will be grounded for a while now until I get the parts I need.

I tried to attach a .csv file but it comes up invalid file type.

You arent flying in 'normal mode' by any change (i.e. with a throttle curve starting at zero)?

Looks to me from the log that the 'Thottle in' signal dips sharply exactly at the time that the motor cuts. That could very well simply be caused by you pulling back on the collective in normal mode and cutting power to the motor. This also ties in with your description i.e. that power cut just as you tried to reduce collective. That's why i'd say NEVER fly in normal mode.

So i'd advise if you are using normal mode, dont,... Fly in idle up, preferably with governor.
