i would be looking at the manual, if there was wind won't come down till the blades stop.

at least -4 in normal, i would have -6 incase, then full pitch travel in idle ups

Understand now why it's so floaty, yes time for set up from manual, just looked and all info required is in there.
Too many helis and planks, well that's what she says.

the manual says -4. I will set it to that.

Good to start with then when you have set the curve in normal mode set up the throttle curve for normal mode flying don't worry about flat lines get a nice throttle curve that gets it hovering at midstick. You may have to make adjustments to the throttle curve to get it right and you will need sufficient RPM headspeed to avoid tail wobbles, motor cooling possibly could also be an issue if it's not spinning fast enough. Idle up flying would have it hovering with stick well above midstick, you don't fly idle up yet so don't set it like that.

Thank you very much. I will do all of that. I am just waiting for some spares to arrive before I can go back out and try again.

Okay.. Stardate 20-10-15 17:10. Out for a flight and the same issue. Something is telling the ESC to cut power to the motor after a few minutes of flight time. I don't know whether it's the ESC, some sort of feedback from the motor, the receiver or the fact that I'm running the electrics on 8 volts. I don't know.

              The data as flown:-

The graph. I just focused around the event as the rest seemed immaterial.

You got a proper throttle curve in the TX ? does the ESC count 12 beeps on connecting up ? Also don't think some of the settings in your set up file are applicable to fixed end points, if they are greyed out in Castle Link they are not available to set up. Don't know why you have Auto Rotate enabled ! Does look as if it is going into Auto Rotate and then spooling/ ramping back up to speed, don't know why it would do it as throttle position is over 1.5ms .

Throttle curve is 0,0 65,30 75,50 85,75 95,100. It's never done 12 beeps on start. Auto Rotate setting should only affect throttle hold as far as I'm aware and allows it to spool up quicker when recovering from autos.

Cut off voltage/Auto Li-po (*) should beep 12 times on connection with 12S pack, you have yours set to 36.0 volts so maybe it does not do the beep thing as it may already know the cell count. Only other thing is the ESC is faulty and shutting itself down for some reason ( fets, caps or something like that that's faulty ) try another ESC if possible to eliminate it.

If I set it to Auto Lipo, it does 11 beeps. The batteries are at storage charge, should it still detect 12 cells?

Hello Graham, Auto Rotate is affected by the throttle not the throttle hold switch. I do not know about throttle curves on the Futaba but on the Spektrum with Auto rotate enabled the motor cuts out at about 14% which is what you program your throttle hold switch curve too. So if you have your normal throttle curve set below 14% it will cut the motor but have a quick restart above that value. If your curve goes down to 0% your motor will stop also but a slow start when you throttle up again...Links to Castle videos showing how to set up...

your log started at 46.9volts which is just 11 cells fully charged are 46.2v so sounds like only seeing 11 cells

also storage is roughly 3.85v per cell =46.2 volts

Should it not do 12 beeps for 12s? I checked my CC120 on my 700 and I get 12 beeps on 12 cells. The CC must select how many cells you have from the voltage it detects on start up.

I would measure the voltage at the CC connection point with fully charged batteries and check you have the correct voltage from your cells as soon as you connect them and count the beeps. I would expect at least 46.8v (3.9 per cell) rising to a possible 49.8v.

                              Worth a check.

The bit of the log that your seeing shows the Heli in flight so the battery pack was under load. The full log shows the initialisation voltage at 49.2 which is roughly 4.1v per cell. I only ever charge up to 4.19 per cell.
