  • Opti 6s 5000mah anyone hit 100 cycles yet??

So now quite a lot are now using Optipower lipo's i want to know how the packs are getting on after a good amount of cycles. I've just seen Bladestrikers latest 550 vid & once again i see a big difference in power compared to my Turnigy 25C's. I don't using the Crapotechs just the original type & i've gone past 100 cycles on 2 of them now but the power reduction compared to a fresh one with 20+ cycles is noticable. So to justify the double cost i also need to match that with life expectancy. I see 4 point tic tocs look so easy with the Opti's as the power just appears to hold throughout whereas when i do them they seem slow & laboured but i don't know if that's not just poor collective management. Also the IR is always good on 5 out of 6 & on my repaired from 6 to 5s packs 4 out of 5 are near matched & i find it odd how there is always 1 cell that seems out. However the packs only ever come down just warm after 5min 20 BUT it's winter still. This jump from £50 to £109 needs a lot of thinking about.

I'm only at about 35 cycles, I've not given them an easy time though, as my videos prove So far so good, all IR's around 2mili ohm's

Still early yet then. Hmm? i want that performance but i also need more stick time which buying another 2 turnigys will give me & maybe the lesser power will teach me better collective management? It's a tough call (well for me)

While I can't say these will last in to xxx number of flights, I can say for a fact that they are way outperforming the Turnigy 40c 5000's I previously ran. Power is night and day difference; after around 15-20 flights my tunigy's were screwed for any kind of 3D flight, and were badly puffing after every use. These come down barely warm on my 700e, after 5 mins or so of hard flight, and no puffing of any kind to be seen Tomorrow, I'll do a video showing the pack temp before and immediatley after the flight, it's a pretty good indication of health (plus I've marked the packs so you'll see how many cycles exactly they've had).

Maybe worth emailing Andy at Opti to see if he has any data logs.

Still early days i think. Most people buy 2 or 4 packs, and knocking up 200 or 400 flights when only flying at the weekend is a bit of a struggle.

IMO though, you won't be disappointed.

Paul has a point here, I fly every weekend weather permitting but getting through 100 flights using one pack each weekend could take over a year.

Mine has 25 flights on them at the moment which is barely run in by these standards but I think you will find they will run the course.

Maybe Andy will look in this thread and clarify the flights done when they were tested by Dave Fisher before they were released.

What is the setup on your model and its power requirements? It could be the C rating of your currnet packs holding things back. To keep costs down you could try one of the higher rated Turnigy packs

There's a rumour in the sheffield area, where Aurorra are based, that the optis are the same Worley
Parsons sourced cells that are in the extremely well wearing revolectrix packs. Those have fallen out of favour due to their price not falling in line with others.
If this is true you are probably good for more like 200 cycles.

Scorpion 4025/1100 15T, Align 75A esc with external bec, 550mm blades. I'm using the 25C packs as i've found the 30C to not last so well plus i have to faf around changing connectors etc. I didn't see a huge difference in power between the 2 so i've stuck with the 25C. My new pack has 25 cycles & the pack used in the flight vid i posted in the soton thread was a 25C on it's 125th cycle so still good for graceful 3D. I do know for sure i would be VERY happy with opti performance as i've seen how bloody good they are. If there is any truth in that Worley romour then they will indeed last 200+ cycles. I managed to notch up 340 cycles on an old red label revolution 4900 4+2s in series 20C. I will deffo get a pack but just can't decide when lol

I havent got a 6cell opti but my 2550mah 3s is going really well its now had 116 flights and still going strong, its keeps the hs more consistant than my other batts and does run cooler, i havnt noticed any power decay after 100 cycles, im really loving my opti and im sure to be getting some more soon
