I made exactly the same mistake but fortunately I noticed the error before I had charged my first pack. When I noticed it had only recognized 5 cells I checked the balance board. This is split into two sides with the batt connectors plugged into both sides. I then realized the other balance connected neeeded to be plugged in as well.
It,s an easy mistake to make, try not to feel too bad!
