Dont use a hammer. The Shock wave produced can easily weaken the magnet mounts making immediate or later failure more likely.

As others have said, gentle warm up in the oven to around 100 to 110 degrees C (no hotter or again the magnets suffer), and then push out the shaft in a press. You can get a cheap arbour press from machine mart for around £30, and never again be short of a way to press

Eventually you will have to replace the motor, as when the shaft goes its very difficult to find a replacement.

Being fairly new to electrics this is something I am anticipating for the future and have my eyes on this possibly as an Xmas pressie CLICK ME TO VIEW but my question is, has anyone done a comprehensive, step by step, with pictures, explanation on how to do this??
