  • Haiyin Lipo's, Affordable packs that actually perform?

Recently there's been quite a buzz over on rcgroups about a new player on the market with Lipo's. They've been getting good reviews over in the states but I haven't seen much about them over here or any performance reports. So due to lack of supply of Turnigy's recently I decided to give these a Go. As everyone should know by now C rating is complete BS in most cases so I gave a set of the 5000mah 6s 20c's a try from Chris over at electriflyer.

I'm now at 40 cycles with them now and there still performing brilliantly, No trouble at all with the 800MX in my 700E DFC and they are just as good as the day I bought them. The total Pack IR is around 30mohm's on these but that's with a quite thin wire lead i'm measuring it with. The cell Ir's are at a lowest of 2.84mohm and a highest of 3.12mohm. There very well matched and good values for the actual internal resistance.

I'm working at aligntrex over the summer and Raj has brought them in as a product to sell. I picked up another set last week and after 1 cycle the whole pack IR is ~25mohm with each cell at approximately 2mohm. These are just unlabelled packs but come from the same factory. Two of the team pilots have been flying the packs hard and really pushing them and have had very good things to say about them. Haiyin are also the people behind the Scorpion packs which are premium brand.

There currently retailing at ~£50 for each 6s pack so very reasonably priced. I'll make sure to keep this thread updated with how the packs perform over a longer period of time but I would definitely encourage people go give them a try and see what they think. If you get 50 cycles on them then it's only cost you £2 a flight on a 700 which is a bargain and I think most people should get significantly more than that.

Feel free to post your thoughts etc so we can compile some good information for people looking at buying packs

    Cheers,

    Brett

I will follow with great interest but TBH the un labelled status of the Packs Raj sells put me off ordering two to try in my 700s as did the warranty status as did from the same factory(but are they the actual same spec).

But in fairness most warranties are limited unless you go up to the "premium"options but you are effectively paying for that warranty with them in the price.

Would definitely try some Haiyin packs but from Electriflyer as it stands for branded ones, but hopefully feedback on the unlabelled one will be forthcoming which might tempt me over the cheaper Turnigy equivalent.

Just a note to say that the internal resistance of the packs are checked so that no duds are sent out, We had one come in that had a very dodgy cell even though it was balanced perfectly. Hopefully these measures will make sure that you only get packs that function properly and perform as they should.

People will buy the brands they stand by. Nothing wrong with that, but nothing wrong with going against the crowd and trying something else either.

I've only had ~ 3 flights on my Haiyins so can't really comment on their performance, but they come down cool after 5 mins with 25%+ left in. IRs were very low when I bought them and the balance perfectly.

Like you said, they make the Scorpion packs which are more than twice the price of the Haiyins. Begs the question why people buy them? I don't doubt they are better than the Haiyins, but more than twice as good? I doubt it personally...

I would be hoping for way more than 50 cycles personally. I don't need every ounce of power for my level, so I'd be expecting 200 cycles, even out of the cheaper turnigys. Flight times and performance may be lower by then but 200 cycles would be nice.

Where are you getting them for £50 each btw? I paid £65.

At align trex we are selling them for £50 each. Oh yes I too would expect more than 50 cycles. On a set of aligns I have I'm at 130 with no signs of them dieing yet. Granted there not as good as the haiyins or turnigys I have which are newer but there still producing plenty of power.

I use the 6S 5000mah on my 700 and the 4S 4000mah on my quad, actually I bought the ones for the quad first and then was tempted to get them for my 700 as their performance seemed to be very good, same applied to IR and the fact that they gave a lot but then recovered back quickly on the bench up to 10% in 3minutes that was when the alarm went off as in having 25% left in the pack.

when I got the 6S for the 700 I immediately felt that they had a lot more punch than my turnigy ones as early when I brought the 700 to the first hover as it did climb at a higher rate than usually. I also like the fact that they are not as clumsy to fit in the tight battery compartment. The model feels and performs very good, though I must admit I surely dont bang my model around like some of you guys.

I gave a stick to coolice for testing their performance as he is more skilled than me and he was impressed with their performance as well. speaking to swale at our fly-in, who is probably the one on this forum who had flown the most packs for testing the way I can see it, he also mentioned them being the best when it came to value for money.

so all in all, seem to be the right choice. in regards of C rating, the ones Chris (electriflyer) sells are rated 20-30C and mine did show a true 27C rating, which is pretty similar or event better from what I have seen from the gens ace packs, who claim to be true 25Cs as well which in fact they were when we checked them.

speaking of the white labels, same reasons here not to buy them, warranty, might be a not so perfect batch that didnt get approved for the official labels.

I may be tempted to try out on of these when the time comes for my 550: Haiyin – 6S 5000mAh 30C « ElectriFlyer

Will keep an eye on the test reviews... I notice they recommend a 3C charge rate? 5C max charge rate too.

Not sure "sold as seen" is legal, especially if buying over the Internet where the seller is bound by the distant selling regs....

Yeh I wondered that because you can't 'seen' it until after you paid for it,under these terms I won't ever buy one personally.

But for sure I would try a branded Haiyin and look forward to the reports etc etc.

Taken from a Direct.gov website regarding distance selling.

Traders cannot take away consumer's rights by using terms such as ‘sold as seen’.

These batteries are 5000mah at 6S, Due to the price these batteries are SOLD as SEEN and only come with an arrival WARRANTY for dead cells.

They're £53 ish buying directly from Haiyin's EU store, but not sure how expensive postage would be and if there would be any customs to pay? I'd rather just go to Electriflyer personally.
