Still a very capable machine prob time to move it on though as heli's keep arriving on my doorstep, thanks JG! Your tri head looks nice and if its anything like the 391 very nice flight characteristics.

Managed a few on the ITO today.

I was just searching for something and ran across this old thread about my E8 Leggero. So, as the forum is quiet, I'll add an update:

Not that long after I got the E8 and had started flying it, JR bit the dust and it took a while before someone new picked up the ball to support some of the models. So during that time I wasn't flying much anyway and the E8 sat on the shelf as I was unsure whether to keep flying it or try to sell it (and in fact I did try once to sell it with zero response). Then it started to emerge that some parts were coming through again for at least the Forza 700, maybe the 450 I'm not sure. And then... I got wind of the liquidation of remaining stock from JR Americas and I was able to grab a new E8 Leggero kit at a crazy cheap price. So cheap that I wasn't ready to believe it until it arrived, and it did arrive :lemo:

So I had wanted to convert the E8 to 12s because although it kinda worked on 6s it was really pushing the packs and had nothing in reserve (this is mostly due to a low-ish tail ratio that required some headspeed for everything to really gel).

I had the rewound 600MX motor I had previously run in the Dune and as I had done a bit of swapping around of ESCs, the Jive 100LV that was in the JR went into the Dune and an 80HV went into the JR, it was a very easy job.

I have had it out to the field once now and it is brilliant on 12s. It flew very nicely before so now it has the extra power and headroom and it's just lots of fun and is super precise and very well behaved. The only downside about running it 12s is that even with the smallest packs I have (2600mah) it is a bit nose heavy. So I can put a tiny bit of weight on the tail somewhere and cure that easily, but I will also toy with the idea of extending the boom and TT a bit so that the Forza 700 fuse fits without having to cut it.

I thought the packs might be dead as I had not flown them in so long. I think some of these smaller packs haven't been in a heli in two years! But so far they're fine. :abnormal:

--- Just to add, the Kasama Dune works brilliantly on a single 6s pack, usually 4000mah and up to 5000 ish. But it's much lighter than the JR. The E8 was intended to run on 8s-10s but I went 12s to use the packs I already have.
