Error 18 signifies some problem in the data coming the PC to the transmitter..

Can you try doing the same routine that my old man did to fire his into life?

    1) Create a new blank PCM9xII memory in the DataXchange software.
    2) Transfer new blank memory to DSX9. (This should succeed)
    3) Try sending back a saved DSX9 memory from the PC to the TX.

If that doesn't work then we're back to trying a PC with a COM port so we can remove the USB adaptor from the loop..

    Cheers

Just had to go to a mates house and try this dongle into a serial port without using the USB dongle Mark.

      Sadly just the same.:(

I wonder if the Buddy lead cable is the trouble.

I had to buy my own buddy lead (the one with the jack plug on each end) seperate because there wasnt one supplied.

Should there have been one supplied in the kit..???

Another thing I noticed when it was delivered was the small Cd was smashed in bits.
I rang Trevor at Midland and he said he would send another if I failed to download the data from the net..

The whole scenario has been a total mess for me buying this Mark.:(

Not a great run for you I must admit!

It shouldn't come with a buddy lead as some of the JR transmitters come with one anyway so it was decided to go without to keep the price down.

Ok well we've proved it's not the USB cable that's faulty.. therefore the finger of blame must be pointing at the dongle itself.

Let me send some emails to MacGregor to get them to do a quick test with a DSX9 and a DataXchange unit.. and if that works ok I'll get them to send out that replacement cable to you..

        Cheers

Thats very kind of you Mark.

Anything I can do just ask.:)

I'm going to buy a second JR buddy lead just to be on the safe side too.;)

              Gaza,

Unfortunately not as the DX7 has no transfer ability.. therefore you couldn't get the settings out to put into the DSX9..

              Cheers

I found that it had nothing to do with port setup but used the other setting rather than a specific JR tx pretty poor considering the cost of software

Sorry to go off topic but just thought it might be a good chance to find out

You will "NOT" be able to fly at any public event with an imported TX Gaza..
If the BMFA check your tranny you will be watching....Not flying.;)

Stay clear mate, Its all too tempting to save a few quid buying abroad but just not worth it IMO.:)

                      Gaza,

It won't be legal as to get through the CE testing JR had to do more than just lower the power output. I believe there also extra shielding in the case too.

                      DUBIOUSP,

I'm not sure what you're trying to get at?.. what transmitter? The DSX9 is just a 2.4ghz PCM9xII and has been used on the DataXchange as such...

                      Cheers

Do you mean you had to use the "Unsupported Transmitter" selection to get it transfer ?

Midland helicopters sent my DataXchange program back saying their conclusion was it doesnt work with Vista although it worked fine with XP.

Its back here now and when I get the chance I will have another try with a PC with XP installed.

Any updates to fix this problem and the DSX9 upgraded into the program Mark..:)

                              Busterboy,

Well the DSX9 is the same as the PCM9xII so it should be no problem at all..

I've had people running the DataXchange ok on Vista.. but as with all things MS something that runs fine on one machine doesn't on another..

If you can let me know how you get on with XP that would be great. Could be it needs some specific Vista drivers for the USB adaptor..

                              Cheers

Well before the program was returned to Trevor at Midland I actually saved all my model settings to my computer but as we remember failed to send them back to the TX which tells me that the USB must be reading the dongle.

I will of course let you know how I progress with an XP based PC.:)
