I picked up a DX9 last night. The Forza 450 has convinced me I will stay with the hobby a while and as I am also building a quad that I may want to do aerial filming etc went for the 9 channels as I may need them!

Haven't had i out of the box yet and can't wait to fly at the weekend!
The new DX6 feels much more like a big tx, rubber grip, bigger screen and the dx9 quad bearing gimbals will be a huge difference. (I check two brand new [6 and 6i] in the local shop, hard to find something where the 6i in the same lvl :P). I'm so excited, yesterday I just bought the DX6, so hopefully maiden this weekend :)
I didn't mean physically ;-)

Thought I would brighten my Forza up with a Fusuno canopy and tail fins. No excuses now for not being able to see it!

As per your suggestion Paul have stuck some 350mm blades on also to aid stability.

I like those radix blades :-)
The fusuno stuff looks nice and bright, maybe you could tell us if the canopy is bigger than standard as I noticed they don't say if it's for the ex version, would save people struggling to fit 3 cells if it is!
Also have you flown it with the 350s yet???

It certainly looks a little more roomy round the front-as if the have used the original Forza canopy as a mould (which they may well have done). Will have a proper look at it at the weekend and report back.

Haven't used the 350's yet; they do look nice though :)

I'm in the middle of a build of my Forza 450 and was just wondering what you did with the servo cables around the main shaft... It all looks a little too tight around there for my liking.

I braided my cables and ran them all outside, not the nicest job but the safest IMO.
then the hard part was getting it all to fit as near as possible without catching the elevator horn.
if you do run them bare, either rub down the frames as much as possible or use some heat shrink on the cables where they touch the frame.
im with you that it looks too tight!

There's more room than it may appear inside. I run the aileron and elevator cables inside down the left side as you look from the front with a couple of zip ties to keep them away from trouble and the collective down the right.

I then run the ESC throttle on the outside right. Zip ties at the back to bundle them all together. As I am running a Spartan Vortex VX1e with a Spektrum satellite receiver I only need to worry about the servo wires.

Will post pictures later.

I use a sat out of my msh brain plus I finally got round to making a bluetooth adapter last night so that's mounted on the other side.
Now I'm thinking of running a governor out of the brain to see how much it's needed in the 450's though I doubt it will do much with 325 blades.
Poor heli will be made of cables soon

Photos attached of how I have wired my Forza up. Am going to swap out the blue zip ties for some black ones but they are all I had to hand.

Also attached is a photo of the JR canopy slotted inside the Fusuno one. It very much looks like they have used the JR one as a mould as you can see it slots in to the Fusuno nice and kentucky so there is a few extra mm all round.

My thoughts

I finally found some time to finish off my Forza today, managed to get a quick maiden in the back garden under falling light to give it the once over. First impressions are good, it's very quiet and a little more stable than I thought, the last 450 I flew was a Flybarred Blade 400 when I was first starting out so it's no comparison really. It wasn't all successful though, I have a nasty shake on spool down which near enough bounces the heli back into he air, I need to figure that out, and I was caught out by the Vortex again when my soft start was not so soft spinning the heli nose in as soon as I flicked out of throttle hold.

Mine is the combo kit without the TAGS unit so I'm using a VX1e. I also ditched the stock ESC for YEP 40A as the governor is pretty good apparently and I like my ESCs to have active freewheeling. The ESC is a pain to fit if you want it to go under the battery tray, I had to modify the YEP so both the motor and battery cables came out the same direction like the stock JR.

As for the build the whole heli went together very quickly, I spent more timing doing the wiring than actually putting it together. One thing definitely worth noting is the quality, it is very very good, definitely the best I've built to date, my only issue laid with the canopy, with the battery in place it was a nightmare to fit, there is very little room under there. The manual recommends batteries upto 2700mah, I doubt very much that anything that size would fit, I can just squeeze my 35C 2200mahs under it. I got the hair dryer out in the end and heated the whole thing up so it flexed into shape, it goes on much easier now! Definitely worth doing if you struggle with it. The wiring took a bit of thought but I'm pleased with the results, I managed to tuck everything anyway except for the receiver whiskers for obvious reasons.

some pics :)

Hey matt, I have the occasional mental fit on takeoff and landing, the skids are so flexible that when the heli slightly twists on the ground the tail goes off on one!
Not much to be done but fit the 'ex' skids or gorillas from a mini protos as they are lower and don't twist as much!
I just compensate it by turning the tail a bit until it smoothes out again.
Hopefully that's the issue your having......
