  • Forza 450- I'm very impressed!

Just thought Id share my initial experience with my new forza 450 kit I purchase with motor esc and servos!
i also got some align 360 blades and some gens ace 2200mah 60c lipos which are a perfect fit :)
This is my first new build kit and took a mere 2 hours to build, and another hour to run the electronics, mount an msh brain and set it up.
first spool up I needed to track the blades and switch from sport to 3d setting in the brain!
wow- easy as pie! Rebuilding some second hand helis I have has been a real task but this is one of the easiest helis to build and there are hardly any parts to it!
The heli flies superb and due to the easy setup procedure with the unique swash tool and servo horns it needed no trimming.
i flew 4 lipos and ended up tuning throttle curves to
    n- 0-40-75-75-75
    1-80 flat
    2-90 flat
theres loads and loads of power on tap for me and for £148 for the combo plus the brain this is a superb bit of kit if recommend to anyone!
even the carry bag for £37 is fantastic quality!
I hope this helps anyone looking into the forza 450.

I bought one too the price was impossible to resist, absolute bargain! I'm looking forward to building something (first time in 18 months). Do you know what headspeed you are running? The stock gear ratio seems pretty high so I bought a 14T pinion to tame it down a bit.

        They look great value.

          Cheers vrp
Matt I havnt worked it out yet but I ran it all as it came out of the box and started at 70% flat on idle 1 which was nice but not efficient so ended up at 80% for general flight. 90% on idle 2 really livened things up!
I'll have to calculate the head speed but I've read a few times that the 14 tooth pinion suits the 3s setup much better so you'll have to let us know how you get on with it.
when I asked midlands why they are soo cheap they said jr is struggling to get sales so are basically giving them away to get people flying them, to be honest Im surprised they are soo unpopular!

I haven't seen a JR heli in person since 2009, where I saw young kid (about 16) fold a Vibe 90 Scott Gray in half.

When I was looking for a large 450 (350-360 blades) last year, the Forza was on the list at first. The main reason it was disregarded, was the need for a specific motor shaft shape (due to the one way being in the pinion). Combos including the motor only were 3 cell only and the 6S motor either wasn't around, or crazy expensive. I can't remember which.
Current fleet: Goblin Thunder Sport (700), Trex 700L, Logo 600, Specter 700, Henseleit TDR, V-Baaa control.
Next heli: I have pretty much everything I want. Maybe I'll upgrade some electronics or something.

There are a few more motor options now the motor shaft is available on its own for £6.
im going for the msh scorpion motor at 2580kv as it gives maximum effeciency around 3200 head speed and is only £40.

I have just bought one as my very first heli and whilst I have plenty of experience in building stuff in general the prospect of building an actual flying helicopter was a little daunting.

Needn't have worried, as others have said the kit is of very high quality, the instructions very clear and it's going together nicely. I'm taking my time to get her together and setup will no doubt take a while and I'm getting plenty of sim time in between building hours!

Bought the kit, motor, servo etc combo and a Spartan VX1e and I think it's excellent value. So glad I bought this instead of one of the many 450 clones out there as it all just seems to want to be built.

Got to agree, this is a really great heli and a steal at current prices. There are some nice design features, the use of ball links on the boom supports should mean they pop off instead of break in a crash and the extra long collar on the ball links is useful for making sure your linkage rod is properly aligned when you wind on the link. The one way bearing in the pinion is also a neat, and light weight, solution.

They look tempting at the current price, but what about future spares availability?

I don't think spares will be an issue, it's not a particularly old model and i believe it shares the majority of its components with the EX version. It didn't concern me not to buy one :)

One of our local guys bought one and I couldn't believe the price. I've got my heart set on a Gaui X3, but these are definitely a bargain at the moment!

That's funny, I was looking at the x3 but the price is a no brainer when you could get two for one!
Had another 6 flights today and still impressed! The thing just climbs out with little to no bogging even with the standard settings and 360 blades.
i can already feel I'm going to learn a lot with this heli :-)
as for spares, it's jr and the ex version is still new so I doubt there will be any problems getting them in for the next 5 years.
the only difference on the ex version is the larger canopy, boom cover, 6s motor and the larger 350 mains/65mm tails.
the rest is exactly the same.
the only thing I thought might be an issue was lipo sizes but actually if you run the cables around the top and down the side of the lipo you can fit most 2200 3s out there.

Ive just finished my 3 bladed head version and I must admit it flies very well with some tweaking. However Ive flown it and now its up for grabs, including a brand new Thunderpower 3s 2700mAh 25c lipo that does fit under the canopy just about .
