    The 7hv is now spot on ! No tail wag and good gain settings. 20-30mph gusts today and it's was no problem for the heli. The gov on the hobby wing 120hv esc seems pretty rubbish with it lagging the loading of the motor and letting it bog and also over speeding on fast descents . The gov on the 70a version which comes with the 6hv works flawlessly! anyone else have any exp of this ?

    Cheers Steve and Weston uk for all the support . I got there in the end!

        [COLOR=#222222][FONT=Verdana]7Hv update!

        Now I have sorted my 7hv and had some flights I thought I would share some thoughts. It’s my 1st time with an fbl heli and the precision of it is incredible when compared to my fb 6hv. This is obviously more to do with the fbl tech than the model itself but still quite remarkable. Still love the fb feeling but it’s nice not to have to correct all the time. I doubled my P.B. of 8 aileron rolls at about 10 feet on my second attempt. I stopped at 16 because it seemed pointless carrying on as the heli had hardly mover out of position. Clever tech indeed! I usually struggled to 5 on the 6hv and they got ugly towards the end. Piro circuits are very consistent at as high a speed as I can manage and my bad beginner piroflips also seemed much more fluid.

        I’m running the Hobbywing 120a platinum pro HV ESC (mouth full). Gryphon 75a bec (Just been recalled!) and the 4525 520kv LE.
        The 1st flights I had vib problems (combination of mechanical issues and noob beastx setup issues like the pad thickness) I also had a tail bounce of 1-2" even though my tail was very smooth in operation. In governor mode the esc was struggling to hold the head speed. It was constantly chasing bogging and over speeding during pitch pumps and fast descents. I couldn’t work out if the low voltage safety was kicking in as the motor could be pushing the esc and batteries to their limits causing the pack voltage to drop under load. So I turned it off and tried u shaped throttle curves but at 2000rpm I needed different gearing to get the motor up near 100 throttle as it was bogging ( in a different way) again. I thought the 70a platinum pro hv ESC on my 6hv was brilliant in governor mode so I didn’t think the 120a should be any different! I ran across a great article about battery cable length, inductance and motor power. My leads (as many have with these 12s long packs made up of 2 6s and a y harness) were 50cm long. A max of 30cm seems acceptable of roughly 220mF per 10cm. Inductance causes voltage spikes, kills FETS and can pee certain types of governors off! I have now doubled my capacitance on the ESC, cut out unnecessary EC5 connecters and soldered the wires directly together, twisted cable pairs together and I have bunged a high velocity fan on the heat sink of the ESC (very good fans in ceiling projectors). The result? The governor works flawlessly! Power and speed is loony bin insane like you see in some of these pro videos. The fan knocks 30 odd degrees of the ESC (we ll have to see how it does in summer). The tail bounce turned out to be the governor!!! I haven’t touched the tail and after trying again and again to lower vibes and check for binding its now completely still and locked in! 15-20 flights and nothing has gone pop, Temps on the ESC are ok and the motor although running much hotter than the 6hv motor is also well within spec. All in all I chuffed! This heli (like most probably) is light years beyond my skill set. Should you get one? Well I don’t have any exp with other brands yet and like I said before the fbl systems are really what your flying but this heli looks great, needs no upgrades (Some may want a metal tail (looking at you Andy) but you supposedly have to be doing 100mph in a tail down hurricane and transition to a skids out hurricane to see a problem! For me ...not a problem lol) and soon the official compass motor is being release which is said to be producing 6kw+ continuouse power. Exciting stuff from a heli that doesn’t really cost any more than the align equivalent!

        Ill post again as I get stuck into this season of flying. Thanks again for everyone’s suggestion on this thread and have fun with you Compass Helis!

                      I have the same canopy on my 500 and it is really visible even far away. I bet, with the size canopy of the 7hv, visibility will not be a problem at all.

                                I'm using a gryphon quasar from 1 pack! And a wr on the 6hv from both packs. The gryphon is flatter on the back making it easier to fit.
