Nearly there. Wait till you fly the beast. I just love mine that it took my attention away from my 600 esp which is running on 12s as well. Flew it in 30mph wind and it felt nothing at all. I can see in the future on my 7hv no 2.:)

[QUOTE=chucky21022010;767701]It is a very powerful machine. I checked my vbar log and it did not even register any extreme or any bad vibration. I think my issue is with my mechanical setup. I will double check again today and will test it. Savour the build because it will not take long. It is my first 90 size heli so Im quite new to this but my impression on the bird is quite higher compared to my Align models.

                Hello Ken,
The tail wag was caused by tight ball link on the tail rotor. Reamed it and the wag was gone. I thought I checked everything but missed that bit. Make sure your tail assembly is butter smooth and you will have a problem free heli on maiden flight. I just love mine governed at 1700, 1800, 1900 on 13T pinion with a flying time of 6 minutes on a 5000mah 30c flightmax lipo. Flying weight of 5.2kg. I hope it helps.

                  Hi ken/ chucky

All powered up last night and no puffs of smoke out of anything so I'm a happy man,

I have gone with a 14 tooth revco so I can govern at 2000-2100. The 6hv is such a ballistic heli I didn't want the 7hv to feel like a slouch. I love the stock compass blades but I may try some 710mm spin blades out later. What motors you running. The compass prototype looks like its coming along nicely. I'm a bit worried the 4525 520 may run a little hot and eat my batteries for breakfast (got a couple of pairs of cheapo zippy 5000mah 50c batteries to get her up I'm the Air) .Got the temperature sensor on the motor and I'll monitor esc and battery temps with a temperature gun ( although you never really know what the correct operating temperature is for each component!)

Anyone out there got any timing recommendations for the hobbywing 120 Hv esc? I know 15-22 timing with a pmw of 12khz is the safe zone and sub 15 degs timing can fry the esc but any suggestions would be most welcome.

Also what pitch are people running. 13 collective and 7 cyclic?

That's sounds promising Snaakey. Im running 510 700mx motor so Im a bit conservative on the power. I sport fly so I want to really maximize flight time. I left everything default on the HW settings except for the very soft start which I used. 12 deg collective and as per vbar instructions 8 deg cyclic and 80-100 control loop. If I remember right beast x uses 6deg on J, and get that blue light. I never bothered to measure the 3 helis running on beast x so I dont know exactly how much is my cyclic throw after setup. Vbar was used on 7hv because it is " special ".:)

I went for a 560kv.....based on the info I could find at the time the Compass motor was going to be the same kv so assumed id be pretty safe with it...(plus I already had it)......It would seem anything from 500-560kv can be used so with any luck it should have plenty of "pop"

For Beast X, you should set up for 6 degrees in step J as stated above and then for overall cyclic range you should just make it as high as possible without mechanical binding and let the Beast X decide how much to actually use. Can't remember exactly but on my TRex 700 I probably had about +/-12 degrees cyclic with the Beast X.
