They did mention that the head tried to turn when it happened. You may have hit on something there. Cheers :cheers2:
another thought the stock esc comes with 2 Rx cables on is short used for programming and other long one is the Rx one. which one was plugged in.

if a battery power was sent through the Rx to esc wire and aided in the turning the motor the amp draw will melt the RX to Esc wire, ask how i know :).

a very tight gear mesh can also toast an esc on start up, but the ESC is rated to 110amps burst so this might not be it.

if not it might just a bad Esc :(
for this to happen the main battery is not connected to the esc and the rx one is and either there is an accidental movement of throttle stick, or if it new esc and first start, then the throttle range is not set, on these esc when new if throttle range not set, then low stick is not 0. its best to set throttle range first before doing anything and always start first power with throttle at high to enter programming mode. once you hear two beep with some vierd tone throttle down sets new Tx throttle range

I was with shaun when this happened
the rx and main batterys were both connected and the throttle was at the high position when turned on.
The esc was going through its beeps, i think there was a series of about 14 or so beeps and then it went pop.
What was strange was that the series of beeps werent what the manual told us we would hear, it was more like it was going through how it was set up from factory:confused:

although it was more like the Bermuda triangle today, with all those heli's going down. did any heli's leave in one piece?
