Well I got my new Swift!!!

I got my Century swift today, and I have to say its awesome!!
What a gorgeous looking 30 size heli. Very well built and easy to put together too -Although there were only a few bits, granted!!

In terms of size, and feel of quality it suits me perfectly....Goodbye minicopters!!

Havent flown it yet as I still have the electrics to get, but if it flies as good as it looks then I'm on a winner.

This is everything I hoped it would be.

God I'm sad......!

Bloke at out field had a Swift and he loves it, looks nice too - some people are not too keen on Century products, just look what Ades does to them :)

I'm itching to get it in the air mate.
I'm still a beginner by any standards and I have no history with anything century....I'll see how I go with it.

I must admit though the latest century electrics seem to be getting cracking reviews. For my budget I got what I wanted.

I know theres certainly better around, but I think thats always the case whatever you own! ( In my opinion )

My push rod lengths to give you a start.

- Bell Mixer To Seesaw = 25mm
- Flybar To COntrol Arm = 54mm
- Bell Mixer To Swash Plate = 99.5mm
- Ail./Pitch Control Arm To Swash Plate = 77mm
- Elevator Servo To Swash Plate = 50mm

I have Futaba 3001 servos in it. As for the gyro I have a 401 and 9254

Reciever battery pack get a decent size like a Sub C cells at 2000ma

Just makes it safe when you carry it out or connect it all up in the pits.

You can at least set it up with a reciver and battery pack before you
buy the main battery/motor/speed controller.

forgot when you spin it up for the 1st time just watch the head speed it will
wobble a bit on the under carriage but does settle down so don't worry to much about the wobble on spin up.

couple of things. on CCPM its worth spending some extra money on better servos. futaba 3152s are 25ukp each and work very well on the knights

not the quickest servo in history but much more accurate than 3001s!

the only downside is that they are 25ukp. but for a digi is dirt cheap.

always setup throttle hold. if something goes wrong in the air its the quickest way of getting shot of some electrical noise and power.

when setting an electric model up either disconnect the motor or use a seperate rx battery plugged directly into the rx.

when you fly the model never connect the battery in the pits always on the flight line. I saw the results of a throttle getting knocked on a tx recently. Its not pretty!

i want to know when they are going to start putting a clutch or similar on electrics. At least then it lets the motor spin without the rotors when something nasty happens.

I had a Trex glitch on me when I was walking out to the patch - stripped a main gear.

The Jazz ESC on my electric will beep and shut down the motor if there is anything stopping the blades, it's proberbly better than a clutch - which you not going to get in electrics as every gram counts.

Thats why I have throttle hold set at 0. Once set then it won't
fire into life.

Oh and the word OUCH can apply here that bugger bites well I can tell you!

The ESC on the Twister 3D has a brake, which allows you to connect the battery with the throtle/pitch in high position, this activates "Brake on". you can safely carry the model, and then reset the to "brake off", by lowering to idle/min pitch
Good idea, as you say, a runaway is both dangerous and expensive.

I flew one at our field in a pretty stiff breeze and it handled it amazingly well. Something else to consider fitting is a ferrite ring on the throttle lead between the Rx and ESC. It will cut out a lot of the noise reducing glitches.

HI, the Swift is a good heli not had any glitches but I run the Schulze Rx in most of my models, it has digital processing, and for about £46 good value. The T-Rex 600 I have just started on will also have one !!
