Yeah, possibly. But you can remove the top bearing and holder easily and remove the mainshaft that way if you have to. I had to do it that way to drill the screw out of the original collar!! Plus the Avant screws are 90' to the shaft so its easier to tighten, not that the Synergy one was difficult......

Mine been locking on and off since I fitted it. It usually frees itself on the way home in the car.
I cant be bothered to strip it again so just fly it as it it is.Cheers

I have to agree matey, I thought the new hub had sorted it, but it seems this one locks up now and I can't be arsed stripping it again, although now started to get a little annoyed with this heli, what with the annoying buzz/vibe that I can't get rid of and now the locking auto-hub again, almost makes me wish I never got rid of my Raptor, that flew perfectly!Synergy N5 -BeastX

I have recently had trouble with the idler pulley on the tail. The Brass spacers wore one of the bearings and it collapsed. the new spacer is giving off 'brass dust' and last time I flew the 8mm spring washer that holds the tail pitch slider together came loose.
I have to agree with you on the raptor. Mine flew for 7 years no problems, just charge and fly. It was my reliable backup up when nothing else was flyable.Cheers

Hi Andy, The standard locking washer that comes with the kit (Both N5/N9) are not brilliant and therefore you have to epoxy/CA it once it is fitted to stop it coming off. What i have done on both my N9/N5 is change the locking washer for a better quality one. The replacement star locking washers i have used have a wider contact point on the locking pins so the washer has much more force on them so it is actually doing what it is supposed to do and dig into the brass bushing and the more it is forced to come off the more it digs in.Originally posted by Heliblerk View PostI have recently had trouble with the idler pulley on the tail. This is the type of (8mm) Star-Locking Washer i have been using:
You can get them from any fixing suppliers or from the following online store:
Starlock Washers 718
Not sure on the brass spacer for the idler pulley, i've never seen that happen before, but it could be caused by the bolt being to tight so that the fiction caused by the belt turning the roller is chewing up the spacer and also the added stress would kill the bearing also. The best thing to do is loosen the bolt/nut that goes through the hole idler pulley assy untill it is smooth and free without being sloppy.
I've not seen any issues with the new auto-hub but it might be worth dropping Matt Boto's an e-mail and letting him know so he can look into it. I've had mine installed now for a number of months and i've installed it as it came out of the bag for testing purpose's and it's been perfect. I do make sure that the lower bolt that goes though the hub/sleeve and main shaft is not overtightened and just snugged up as i've had lock-up issues in the past on various machines caused by over tightening the securing bolt as it distorts the hub/sleeve/collar etc..Originally posted by Spanner View PostI have to agree matey, I thought the new hub had sorted it, but it seems this one locks up now and I can't be arsed stripping it again, although now started to get a little annoyed with this heli, what with the annoying buzz/vibe that I can't get rid of and now the locking auto-hub again, almost makes me wish I never got rid of my Raptor, that flew perfectly!
It might be worth removing the hub and cleaning out and polishing the sleeve if it has any score or grab marks on it then re-lubing with Tri-Flow Oil as i had great success with this method on the original hub.
If you need any help with this just let me know, i will gladly do the work on the hub for you.
Hope that helps!Last edited by ROSSCO; 17-05-2011, 03:15 PM.Thanks!

Hi Ross
I'm guessing my auto hub lock up problems aren't too serious as is frees itself up without me touching it - I think I cleaned it out and used standard 3 in 1 before I fitted it but i'll try the tri flow oil next time I strip it.
Your right on the idler pulley, it was probably too tight. When I run it slightly loose I get the brass spacer spinning and wearing down the bearing and carbon tail case plate. I guess a small blob of cyno might be required to stop the spacers spinning.
I've just re-glued the spring washer back in with epoxy instead of cyno to see if it holds a bit better but I will definately get an alternative washer.
I love the way the N5 flys - just need to buy the lighter parts when they are available and fit them at the next upgrade opportunity.
Cheers

Hi Andy, No Worries!!,.. Anytime!
If you struggle getting a Star-Lock washer locally just give me a shout as i have a few spares and will bob one in the post for you.
With the brass spacer you should be able to get it to be 'snug' against both the plate and the inner race of the bearing without being too tight or loose and still allow the roller to run smoothly.
The N5 does fly extremely well and it's definately my favorite machine at the moment!!, i do find that blades make a huge difference to the way it flies and feels and for a light feeling machine the Radix 600SB's really suit it well.
Let me know how you go and if you need anything else just give me a shout!
Thanks!
