  • Tail pitch slider notchiness

On my kit the tail is pretty much assembled form the factory. The tail pitch slider seems to be pretty tight on the output shaft with some parts feeling notchy.

I had this on my Raptor once and found it was down to too much pressure being put on the brass sleeve. However on the N5 setup I can only see 2 things that could possible to this:-
    a) The starlock washer
    b) the pivot ball.

Does anyone have any suggestions before I embark on a strip down and reassemble?

    Many thanks

    D.

You need to strip it to locktite everything anyway remember to do the bolts that are inside the tail gearbox that screw in to the metal piece for the tail pitch bellcrank - the only way to get to them is to fully disassemble.

The only place you can get any tightness on the tail control mechanism is either if the brass sleeve is binding on the tail output shaft (unlikely bur if it is it should be fine once lubed anyway), or if the bolt that goes through the bellcrank has been over tightened. Just slightly undo it using an m3 driver and then nip the nylock nut back down with a box spanner. There shouldn't be any end float in this after doing that though

Just a quick update, tail is now travelling smooth as a result of me:-

      a) misplaced the washer on the bolt in the bell crank
      b) gave the output shaft a very good clean followed by some tri-flow
      c) this was the biggest difference - reaming those ball-links (man they are tight)
