  • N5 - Now It Makes Sense

I've had the N5 for a month now, but in that time I've only been able to put 24 tanks through it, mainly due to the weather or other commitments.

My main problem has been the engine. The OS55 has been difficult to get on song, but now it is, it's pretty awesome. In todays very strong winds (20mph ish i rekon), it was tracking straight as an arrow, wasn't betting deviated at all, and really felt like a big machine. I've got the cyclics and tail exactly how I wanted them now, and finally, it fits in to my very small fleet perfectly.

Truth be told, I was worried wether I would actually want to keep this long term; not because I don't/didn't like it, but because I've only flown a 90 for the past year almost, and 50's just don't have the same feel to them. Finally today it clicked. It is flying so well, and I really did enjoy flying it today, so much so that I put 4 tanks through it this morning, and only 1 through the N9! This machine is a keeper, which is the first 50 size I've truly enjoyed flying since the knight 3D, so I'm very happy. Much lower running costs than the N9, lower crash costs, and perhaps a little less intimidating (although I don't get all that bothered by flying the N9 in that way anyway), all means I cannot wait for some decent weather to have a real decent fly of it and get a video shot

How are the other owners on here finding theirs now?

    Loving mine ATM Jamie.

Dead accurate machine for a 50. Got a slight tail vib on mine still but nothing I can't sort out. I reckon mine is a keeper as well.

Really looking forward to someone making a new style of canopy though
    Cheers Matt

As you probably know i havnt been all that happy with mine so far up until this weekend. I managed to spend some time on it re adjusting all the head and tx settings until ive finally got it to where its getting very close to being awesome. I do still have a few issues im not happy with that i will post later as im on the move atm , but all in all im finally happy with it. Hopefully there will be a few videos from this weekends flying with online.
It flew well enough for me to use it for my sets and freestyle for 3dx and also survived stefans abuse from his freestyle flight too with it in the finals.

Flew my first one today twice, even though the engine was not on song it flew well, though i did find the elevator a bit slow.
It flew ok, not as locked in as maybe i expected but hard to tell with only 2 flights and an off song engine.
My freind was running 92mm tails and it didn't have enogh power and felt wishy washy to me, defo in need of the 95mm as others say.
Overall though i was impressed to a point, though it won't make me sale my 600 it is a very nice heli

I had the same feeling with mine on the first couple of flights. I found you really need to get the headspeed to around 2150 or more to get the real locked in feel. At that head speed iit did become very nice and precice. The same for the tail too. I found I needed the belt quite tight aslong to get the tail locked in.

My tail is great, the only thing I have done is to red locktite the shaft in to the flange bearings as the shaft seemed to be undersized by 0.05mm causing a tiny amount of rocking. I'm running 95mm Radix, and it is very very solid, no bounce, very good hold.

It's just ashame about the fury canopy lol. If you can hold out untill the end of the year there should be plenty to choose from. The N5 and fury will be well tested, same with the velocity 50. The kasama .50 should also be out then and i'm sure the avant .50 will shortly follow

                        Hi James,

For interest sake. What gyro, tail servo and servo arm length is your mate using?
                        Cheers Matt

                          Tail Servos

                          Guys,

If the tail is feeling mushy with the N5, make sure you are using a high quality 760us servo(9256, 9251, or BLS251). Especially with the GY520. I've flown many customers helis over the course of this year and I noticed a mushy feeling right away if they had a 1520us servo on the tail.

                          Hope that helps!

                          Matt

Will try to find out after next time i see him.

                              Mine is Awesome!!

                              My setup is:

OS 55HZ with Hatori SAB55 Pipe
                              Futaba BLS451's on Cyclic (8v)
                              Futaba GY520 & BLS251
                              Spektrum H5000 Servo on Throttle
                              Spektrum AR7100R
Thunder Power 3600Mah 2S2P Rx Pack
CYE Radix 600 SB Main blades
                              CYE Radix 92mm Tail Blades
                              Align White 600 size Paddles

Had a few lock-ups with the auto hub initially but i modified the sleeve by grinding and polishing it and then cleaned out the grease and re-lubed with oil and so far it has been faultless.

I use 92mm Tails Blades and find the tail very positive and precise, and the cyclics are just insane!!

                              Awesome Machine!!
