well the plastic bearing blocks i think are actually kinder on mainshaft bearings and i can not see a need for the metal blocks, however they will be availble sep parts..
The upgrade package is £79.99 for the two main blocks and mains and tails :-)
If u r not crashing u r not flying hard enought

one slight concern i have is the price of the replacement arms. if this is anything like the velocity you will break them every crash as they are the designed weak point.

the price for the arms is about 25 quid (i assume a pair???) if memory serves.

ade-can you confirm the metal part prices on their own and how many in the packets?

        cheers

Matt Botos has previously said he doesnt run with the metal bearing blocks due to the extra weight as they dont really give any performance gains mainly just bling. I do agree though, a very good price. I'm looking forward to having a quality heli out the box....

The way I see it, is that the N5 if bought as a stock kit will be all you ever want in a 50 size nitro machine. i.e: it has the strong parts in all the right places to make it a very accurate and reliable model.

Now, if you want the bling then the upgrade pack is a niceity.

So will I go for the upgrade pack............... Na never !!!!!!
            Cheers Matt

Yes I do. If outrage can do it to a good standard then why not eveyone else ??? and the velo comes with carbon frames and before you jump on me my N5 is on pre-order. just seems like were getting fleeced for the sake of it these days. That said plastic grips aint such a bad thing, weak link when ya taco it.

Of course we are getting fleeced for the sake of it, and I dont just mean that towards Synergy.
Like they say it is not needed on the N5 but I bet you see more with it than without it.

Im one for bling and it will make no difference to how I fly I just got to have da bling so I'm partly to blame for it also

The 700LE for example is just a 700 with silver bits and a different canopy lol but now they are everywhere already.

                      Bring on the bling!!!!

Fixxer, I'm not going to jump on anyone, everybody is entitled to their opinion Perhaps Synergy could have outsourced the cnc to a cheaper vendor, or saved money by casting instead of CNC machining. Point is you are paying for quality. I'm not going to get in to any brand wars, you pay your money and take your choice at the end of the day.

I guess the real test here will be when we start binning them; then we get to see how well it stands up!

not being anti N5 here but at Charmouth the thing that was drummed out to me by the N5 prototype "handler" was how crap align was and how fantastic and all metal the N5 was gonna be... then it turns out to be plastic.... for £400!!!! that is a fleecing however you look at it.
The Velocity is a fine piece of kit and pound for pound it's where my money would go if I was going for another 50..
but if I was gonna spend £400 I'd rather V-Bar another one of my 700's to be honest and slap a kasama head on it, no contest.

Just for the record, all the cyclic bellcranks are cnc, tail drive pulley is also, as are the mixing arms, seesaw, head block etc etc, so hardly all plastic.

I am a firm believer in 'if it ain't broke don't fix it' attitude.
If the heli works well in standard form, that i would expect it too for 400 quid, why bother, the only reason is the bling factor.
If it feels like a soggy sponge with the plastic mains and the tail is not locked in with that plastic hubs and the bearing blocks don't last, then why are these not on the heli from new, if it were an align, the align bashers would have a field day.
I would prefer to pay an extra 50 or so quid and get the heli that works out the box.
A bit like the 90, have to fit half a ton of upgrades to get it working right.
If it works well as it is, i would rather change cheeper plastic parts than expensive cnc parts in a crash, keep the running costs down.
We shall see, interesting to hear from people running it in standard form
