      • From what I understand, the spares are coming with the second batch which is due very very shortly after this one.

          • Just seen this on the tail blade size issue.

            • So it looks like the manual will get changed to allow 95mm blades, thats good

              • Has anyone compared radix tail blades to edge tail blades yet? The wording on fast-lads website for edge blades makes them appear to be much better than any others out there - Although I'm sure the N5 will have been designed more around using the Radix so they may work better?
Its ashame the Radix are almost plain black - I do like to be able to see the tail blades in flight.

                • tbh and I know I only have limited ability in my flying skill but I have never ever noticed any difference between a set of the same size tail blades in my life, oh except for the Torsions but thats another story lol

Can you really tell a difference???

But saying that I really dont know why I still shell out for Radix lol

                  • I like white tail blades just so you know where they are in relation to the ground, easier to see and prevent shreading tails and BANG.
I will probably fit some aligns at first as i already have some spare, but i do also have some V-blade 95's but they are black and so tend not to use them, only as back-ups.
And yes you can tell the difference on some, not all, i do like how the radix tails feel, just don't like the price and the fact they are all black even though they are my second favorite.
Only normanly stick to aligns as i can get them easy

                    • I've felt the same normally, not really noticed any difference. But then again, its bot very often I can afford to splash out on a nice set of Radix tails. I tend to stick to Align because they look nice, easy to see and theyre designed for the heli and work good enough for me. But when you read claims like this..

" In our specific testing we were able to increase our gyro gain from 33% to 38% just by bolting these tail blades on. This gave our pilots the extra tail holding confidence to do faster pirouette maneuvers. "

It makes you wonder if it might well be worth splashing out the extra. Just wondered if anyone actually noticed any difference? I would use radix if they added the nice white tipes they do on the main blades

                      • There is definitely a difference between blades. However, its not a difference that really matters as most modern gyro's can be tuned to give the same feel.

For example, Radix tail blades need a little less gain than NHP's. Length obviously increases mechanical gain as well so longer blades need less gain, however they may not hold better if you have to run your gain too low.

I find Radix to have harsher stops so a little tweak of the stop gain may be neccesary. Whereas with the NHP's an increase of stop gain will be needed. RAdix are also a lot noisier I have found. Only in things like piro rainbows or piro flips but they are definitely noisier than Align or NHP's that I have tried.

My point is, whatever tails you use you can usually tweak the gyro to suit them. Also unless you are doing a lot of piro stuff you are unlikely to need top end blades, but we all like them

Thats the problem lol. Decisions decisions......

I think your probably right... so now its a decision of which ones look the best

Were only in this little predicament because I cant wait for the N5 to arrive... if it was here already, the last thing on my mind would be choosing tail blades

                              • The most important thing with Tail blades is getting the right length, this has a much bigger impact on how a tail behaves than the actual profile/cross section/composition.

This theory works assuming that the different blade profiles/cross section/composition has no effect on blade rigidity.

Getting a good tail is a balance of 'electrical gain' (gyro gain) and 'mechanical gain' (tail blade length, tail rpm, servo arm length etc). To much of one gain and the tail won't be very good but for different reasons.
