Ok so what's been happening ,.... well the boom is on and the Rave has been to the field I took him just to show my fellow heli addicts what all the fuss is about, I also took my notebook & the Total G Thanks to Ian & James who are obviously computer wizzards I now have a Total G that works even though I forgot the instructions

I found out several things in the initial set up that I had forgotten / missed, The govenor sensor, You need a dual output regulator for the tail servo & throttle servo, &, you need a switch, humm so its going to be out with the engine & clutch and in with a sensor .

its just a quick update tonight but I will be back soon

Nice ... but what is that white container and the weird looking capsulated shinny thing attached to the left side of the heli LOL!

If you are trying to regulate the voltage to the throttle servo and the tail servo, give the Reactor X2 a look. It has dual output 6v and up and 6v and lower

              My Sensor Mount.

While I am waiting for the parts for the sensor mount for the nitro ENV I figured I would fabricate one. Here is what I did. I cut 3 pieces of carbon from a piece of broken frame. I then glued them together with CA and drilled 2 holes in them. I then drilled 2 matching holes in one clutch stack block half. I then took an old sensor mount from an ATG, 2 2x14mm cap screws, 4 servo washers from a little Rave and put it all together. Here is a look at it. Now it is removable, adjustable, and will stay on one half of the clutch stack black if I need to split it. I hope this is clear, and helps some people. Here are a few shots of what it looks like. Let me know if you have any questions.

You're going to have to stop teasing me with photos of your build. I've got the FB nitro but I'm waiting for the FBL headblocks and pushrods to come into the UK, so it's not going to be flying for a while.

I was going to put the Reactor X, the same as I've got in my 700, in my ENV but Andy at Fast Lads suggested the Gryphon regulator. It offers the same dual output as the Reactor X, it has a low voltage warning which the Reactor X doesn't have, and it's about £10 cheaper

                      Hi Ben,
do you mean the noisey smelly thing that converts a large quantity of smelly liquid into choking smoke that kills trees ???

                      Thats an engine

As for the regulator thanks for the advice but I jus got a western robotics titan , I hope it works !

                      • You could use a Spektrum backplate sensor too id imagine? That would be a lot easier.

If you get any probs with the setup, let me know.

Thanks Paul and yes you can use the spektrum thingy , I wish I had known that before i removed the clutch and mainshaft just to make up a sensor bracket pic's of my effort enclosed,
but at least you can remove the top start and clutch drum without removing the engine

I have started painting the canopy and have had some top decals made by "raptormark" heli Harry's dad, pictures will follow

I have begun the Total G install in earnest wow F1 meets model Helicopters, you need a lappy for this one (or a G View) so thats somthing else to take to the field

A couple of guides to the Total G set up , there are 2 plugs for the usb lead to plug in too, one is for main rotor set up ,one is for the govenor & tail rotor (Gyro), just pick the one you want to set up / adjust.

when you plug the usb lead in to the Total G the brown wire faces the servo plugs !

If you want to change / set up a value hover over it with the mouse thingy,
this include checking the sensor for the govenor , point at the red dot at the screen top and line up the magnet with the sensor , the dot goes green if it works !!!!

It takes a bit of getting your head arround but I feel if you want a technical very adjustable set up this one's for you.

I think I included a picture of the way of locking the mixer arms at 0 degrees pitch / swahplate level ,with a 2.5 mm allien key , its a very usefull and simple feature that the designer has thought out, very simples! very nice !

I will say when it comes to setting up a totally new thing like any flybarless system , do the Girl Thing ! read , read , read the instructionhs and watch the set up videos on First episode of the Tech Tips Video Series: Installing a Total G on a Trex 600!! - RCNews

                            it's Brian at his best

oh and buy asprin , and book a day off work,.....

                            more later hugs all

Oh just a quick hi to my friend Pete who's heli transport , a voyager (yes I know there pants, but it could so easilly of been a Nissan Serina ) passed its MOT again ! whoot whoot (shame he took it to some backwater garage to get its mot !)

                            • wouldnt it been easier to have fitted magnet and sensor to the fixed tail drive gear?

Hummm ,............ I am not experianced enough to know on this one

There are mounting holes for the magnet in the front (large) tail gear as ther are in the clutch drum , but am I right in thinking if you did an auto with the hold on the govenor would read the headspeed as the main rotor speed, would it then when youn switch the hold out know what to do ? EG throttle shut , headspeed correct what would happen ???

                                Confused oh yes....

If I have any problems & my advice i will use the backplate sensor

                                Hugs X Rachel
