In the reply they sent you Rachel, I really like the way they explain the reason behind use of material in the helicopter , you can get a better understanding how the machine was born from a engineers mind.

Keep the pictures coming, it a interesting thread.

                      Mark sent me this ,

120/140 CCPM for the majority of us

it doesn't make any difference at all. Back in the day when the software in the transmitters wasn't so good Curtis invented 140 to equalise the distance between the mainshaft and the servo arms. Without doing this you got a collective ripple on the swashplate when moving the elevator stick. However as servos have improved and the software in the transmitters too this can mostly be tuned out without going for 140. The downside of 140 is that you now have two servos on one side of the swashplate using the same leverage distance as one servo on the other side. So under heavy loads the two servos will keep up better than the one. Curtis recommends that for a flybar model you run 140 but for flybarless (where the loads are higher on the servos) to run 120. However for the majority of us pilots the difference is so small that we can live with either setup.

I think I fall into the "us pilots" bracket

Ok sorry for the lack of an update yesterday i am afraid life just got in the way

so whats been going on well I started the rotorhead and stopped dead ,.. why,... because the flybarless one looked sooooooo smooth and uncluttered , now several people have given me the sound advice of build the flybared model then convert it when its sorted, hummm sound advice but,..... at my peril I have ignored them (sorry Mark C )
I am going straight to the Total G flybarless set up

last night whilst working late I watched CYP's Brian's (hi Brian) Total G video's all 93 of them (joke) and wow total rocket science

Thankfully a fellow club member is going the total G route so I guess I will be chatting to him a lot.

Ok back to the build I have built the Tail gearbox which is very much a scaled up 450 item but went together perfectly and is amaisingly strong and very well thought out especially in the way it fixes too the boom (Align take note!) there is absolutly no way the tail gearbox could come off its bolted, clamped, pinned and press fitted so its on for good.

The torque tube is nice too , aluminium , strong but two support bearings , nice !

I have found that so far its a builders machine virtually no assembally is done for you but it all fits so far no drilling or filling here, very very nice,

Just remember it's not an Align bilng monster !!!

Off too pink up the canopy now !

                        more soon

                        's xxxxxxxxxxxx Rachel

I may end up doing the same as you Rachel and converting a FB ENV to FBL. The FBL ENVs don't seem to be any nearer shipping to the UK and I think I know where a FB ENV is still available so I may be going shopping this weekend

I would definatly go that way as its way more expensive to convert flybarless to flybared

I have the part no's to do this if you need them

Good luck and go for it life is short !!!!!!!!!!
