Impossible to get a definitive answer to the question of pack size as there is so many variables and each person, flight style and heli will be different.
Good point. If I were in the market for new packs, it might be worth me getting 4500s or so as the Rush is a little heavy for a 700 as it was originally designed for a 750 size.

Well going for Haiyin 4000mah lipos would save about 350g per flight set over say the 5000mah ones, that's quite a difference in weight.

So are you saying the Ballistic 700 is a light 700? I keep hearing people say stetch the 635 and it becomes a light 700, but if you stretch it them other than a couple of grammes lighter frames it's the same as the Ballistic 700.

My ENV weighs 3.330 kg without blades or LiPos. So with Zippy 5000s at 723 grams each and blades at 200 grams each it would be 5.176kg. With Opti 4300s (670 grams each) it would be 5.070kg. With GensAce 4000s at 600 grams each it would be just under 5kg at 4.930.

Presumably the Ballistic frameset is a little lighter as it does away with some linkage and bellcranks and the bits involved.

We're not talking massive weight savings by stretching the 625 to 700 obviously but weight is everything wether nitro or electric. Look at Sheryls figures above to see how much difference there is by changing from 5000's to 4000's. A saving of 250g just in packs alone makes a big didfference on flight times, yes you do gain a little flight time by going to 5000's but for me personally i'd prefer 20 seconds less but have a much nicer feeling heli that's lighter in the air.
This way of looking at things just suits me and my style of flying but may not work for everyone but however you fly weight saving makes a big difference.

Might give the 4000's a go, I can always get some 5000's if the flight time isn't working for me

              Oh FFS!

Go to order the bits to stretch to a 700 and FL are out of the booms... They keep telling me they're going to keep stocking spares for Rave helix but everything keeps going out of stock then disappears from the website a bit later. If the distributors own retail outfit can't keep stock in I think its safe to say the rave helix are dead in the UK

So now spares are special order from a retailer that cares about it's customers... Just takes weeks to get parts

Kaos-RC comes up as a stockist of the kits but their website doesn't show any heli spares at the moment. I'll see if I can find anyone else. Quick UK did have spares at one point but I don't know what they have now and evo RC also used to stock spares.

To be fair to Fast Lad they have pretty much every part for the ENV in stock (apart from the booms unfortunately!!) which isn't to bad really.

If you can wait a couple of weeks I can send you a 700 boom when I get home from offshore as I have a spare, alternatively order what you want from Amain Hobbies in the States, they usually have everything in stock and post fast. Tbh I order most of my Rave spares there.

I've been using two Opti Power 6s 30C 5000Mah Li-po's (ie: 12s set-up) in my ballistic for a good while now.
1625rpm in normal flight and 1950rpm in idle up 2. I'm getting around 7-8 minute flight times with 20% left
in the packs on landing. I fly smooth & fast big air stuff as hard 3D isn't my thing. I also use a 2s 2100 li-po
through a gryphon regulator for the flight electronics.

They have almost every listed part in stock. With the Rave 3D parts they went slowly out of stock, and then they disappear from the site altogether

What duty etc do you pay when ordering from amain?

Im not surprised that the Rave 3d parts are slowly disappearing as I've not heard anyone even mention a Rave 450, why would you either as there is so many better options, there is still a lot of people with ENV's and Ballistics however and personally have had zero issues getting parts for them.

Last two orders from Amain had no duty to pay and even if you do get stung it will only bring the cost in line with what you would have paid for the order at Fast Lad.

Which delivery option do you use from amain? I might give them a try

Quickest option usually Pete but off top of my head can't remember which one it is. Buying overseas really is no problem what so ever imo.

I posted the question on Heliz.net as Mark Christy has been flying the Rave in F3C comps for a few years also has a Ballistic.

I recently bought some small things from Helidirect (USA), RC711 (not sure where they are!) and RCBits in Australi and managed to not get stung with duties and charges but all three were small orders. I have been very tempted by a canopy at Helidirect but keep talking myself out of it.
