  • Time to stock up on parts or move your raves on maybe

I've been told by a couple of people here in the UK that the Rave brand is now dead, or soon to be, and that Curtis has moved onto AP work now. This is also backed up by people commenting the same on HF. I noticed Curtis has in his linkedin profile Texas Drone Professionals - Central Texas Drone Services being his latest job. There's been no updates on Facebook or twitter for 9 months, and for probably 2 years since a heli has been mentioned.

Is this really the end of Rave helis?

Having just bought a Rave 450, and owning a Ballistic this has made me think. What to do next.

The 450... Well I've not fallen in love with that, I enjoy flying it, but I've stripped a couple of gears on it and I just don't want to push with it which is why I have a 450 sized heli.

The Ballistic. Well I was thinking of selling that and getting a logo 700 sized. But I think I'll do the opposite on that one and stock up on spares when I see them cheap. The more I fly that one the more I like it, and it looks awesome in the air.

Interesting, I did a search a few days ago 'Curtis Youngblood whats he doing now' and didn't find anything current.
Is he still supplying spare parts for nextD models?

    Tim.

Well it's a bit unclear Tim. He's clearly not doing much to develop them, I don't think the facebook page or twitter have mentioned any of the NextD range for a couple of years. Spares are on backorder for 2 of the retailers I've used before ( fast-lad and model-heli-world.de ) so it sounds like they're not putting much effort into keeping the spares stocks flowing.

Seems a bit like a poor show to me. If CY are pulling out of the heli market, you'd think they'd have the courtesy to announce it for their customer base rather than just leaving it to fall apart through neglect.

It might not be as it appears, but if it is then I'd kind of agree Tom. Certainly it'd make it difficult to come back from.

When i had my Rave's i had good support from Brian or 'BuzzinBrian' as he is called on the US forums, he is the guy that does much of the development with Curtis and writes the manuals, which are the best in the business IMHO. Would it not be benificial to email him and get the answer directly from the horses mouth so to speak?

            tech@curtisyoungblood.com ask for Brian.
            Happy Flying! Thanks - Dave

Brian hasn't been on the forums for over 2 years by the look of it.

I have emailed CYE this morning so it'll be interesting to see what response I get.

Well it does indeed look like CYE is just quietly going away. Lots of rumors, if you email CYE direct you get a reply saying they're going no-where, but pretty much every retailer is dumping stock and even CYE's own shop is out of stock of quite a few bits.

I flew my Ballistic again at the weekend and I have to say I was enjoying it. So I'm thinking of picking up some more spares and just flying it more, and using it to learn autos
