I have a mini protos and as others have commented before me, I love it! It's my fave 450 heli I prefer it over the 450 Pro I have, It does look like it won't crash as well as a 450 pro but I have not put that to the test just yet. It really is VERY quiet, the one belt that drives them all helps with that

It was Mat's that I flew indoors at Silverstone - cracking little heli!

My Mini Protos is my favourite 450 at the moment, but I had some build issues with mine which is unusual for me,

There are three things to be aware of

        FBL grip setup,
This uses a long ball screwing into a very small area of plastic on the grip arm.
I found that no matter what I couldn't get the balls to stay straight, as you tighten them up.
The key here is to make sure the front face of the plastic is square, & epoxy them in!

Bearing block & frame part Plastic - metal inserts,
I had real problems with the metal inserts use on all the plastic parts, cross threading or binding against the screws
Check for bits of swarf in the holes, once you start to force the screw in your in trouble.

        Tail pitch slider,
This uses a double pin arrangement on a plastic arm, took me a while to fettle the pins & twist the arm (with heat) till it was smooth.

None of these are show stoppers & once it’s built you will forget how much of a fiddle it is to get the belt in!

        Tim.

Apart from the grips, I had all of the same issues with my Protos 500 build, plus a mis-machined one way/pinion shaft and a head block that took WAAAYY too much tightening to stop it wobbling for my liking.

Anyone got one ? What are they like?
Mental, fast, scary quiet, the best 450 on the market.
I don't know about crash costs, never crashed mine, only landed inverted (don't ask ), was as good as new. It's a very simple heli with low part counts, very light and rather sturdy. Very high quality kit.
I'd recommend stretching it (350 mm blades) and going 6s.
Amazing heli, I'll always keep mine, I had zero problems with mine, about 250 flights on it.
            Not me flying.

Here's mine, first mod I did was fit white skids.
This colour scheme works well for me, though the stock canopy is very visible as well.

Thanks for your tips Tim. I will defiantly take them into account

Always fancied trying one of these. I think looking at the 700 that is due has soon, has really spurred me on to try one of the Protos brand of heli's
                      Cheers Matt

I have one and I fine it flies amazing, crash cost I find is fairly cheap because it is pretty tough one time I crash it inverted and it was completely fine straighten the blades and away it goes.
