  • Concept 30 clutch required :(

Hi people. Does anybody know of a compatible clutch for the Concept 30 as Kyosho no longer seem to make it? Recently bought the heli from eBay as my first nitro variable pitch machine. The MDS .38 engine has no compression and thus won't run, so have obtained an OS 32 SX-H as replacement. Just pulled the MDS out and noticed the clutch is worn to nothing and only one side has any signs of a friction pad. The cooling fan is also minus a blade so ideally that needs renewing too.

Getting really frustrated now - every time I think I'm nearing first hover, I find something else on the heli that is broken or not working

you will find that new concept parts will be extremly difficult to find
as it went out of producton years ago

the main source of used spares will be ebay

in the long run it may pay to sell the concept on and to get either a shuttle or a raptor
the os32 will fit the shuttle and a raptor 30
if you want to invest a little more a raptor 50, sceadu 50 or trex 600 will be ok

be aware that the kyosho nexus 30/46 will have the same spare problems as the concept

if you haven't already got some, get a set of training legs and have the heli set up to fly by someone that can fly a heli
even if you get a shop to do it for you, it will be a big help knowing that the heli works correctly

good luck and enjoy this fine hobby

Bought it off Danch on here who decided against it after digging it out of mothballs - sold it on and bought a Raptor 30.

By the time I get this baby airborn I could have bought a bloody Raptor - but knowing it needs a clutch, fan, engine etc. I couldn't ebay it.

Thinking if I can't get a clutch I will have to break it for spares and then save up for another heli which going through this divorce and paying solicitors fees might take a while. Was hoping to be flying last week and now this week.

Hoping I can get a clutch and at least nurse the heli into action to get some flight time out of it. It's not looking healthy enough to become my Airwolf donor.

Tell you what mate, i have sitting here a full concept 30 DX with engine. It was a project of mine to get flying again but i doubt i will ever bother, even has the old kyosho wooden blades with heatshrink covering No servos or gyro / rx etc but your welcome to the airframe and engine free of charge. Like i say, it's a dooerupper so expect a bit of tinkering

Can reuse the shelf space for the srimok when it's finished then

              Let me know by PM

              Thanks,

              Steve.

Note: If you would like to collect it i will be at our field in warton this sunday (weather permitting) from around 11:30am onwards, can bring it and all the bits together for you to pick up.

                Steve,

Nice to know that there are decent folk left on this planet - that has really made my day and restored my faith in humanity :-)

                A very happy Simon.

Guys - have done some research and found out something I think is exciting...

The Kyosho Concept style clutch and bell is ALMOST the same as the Century Hawk one. Only thing is you need to fettle the engine cooling duct to allow for the bell being a fraction bigger on OD (it just touches). Beauty of these is the bell is metal not plastic and will last a hell of a lot longer.

Part number of bell is HI3010
Part number of clutch is HW3011

They fit exactly as per the Kyosho clutch. Wonder if the cooling fan does too as they do a nice aluminium one for the Hawk...

don't buy anything until you have seen my airframe, pretty sure the clutch bell, liner and fan assembly are tip top.

                        thank you

Yeah funnily enough I spoke to Rob today for about an hour on the phone. He's a great bloke. He advised me that my Concept set-up as it is (i.e. dead and needing drivetrain parts that are no longer serviced), is worth about £100 if lucky in parts - thankfully I can use the good bits as spares to put into the DX Steve has kindly given me to get some life into it.

I'll be using the DX SR-T hybrid as it will be to learn to fly variable pitched and then putting a Raptor 30 V2 into my Airwolf fuselage as I progress the build - a) parts are cheaper than most and b) if Rob ain't got it, nobody has!!
