if you are high enough the piro isn't a problem on an auto in which tail drive has failed
it's back to old school with non-driven tails the tail weather veins and you control the direction via the cyclics
you many not have the same directional control but you have some
the biggest problem is not panicing when it happens
too low and its history before you realise whats happend
if you lose rudder control with the tail still rotating that is much harder to stop any damage
but its like any un-planned auto if the heli is in the wrong position, too low etc then its a good chance the heli will hit mother earth with damageHirobo Turbulence D3

I just learned this is a known problem!
So it must have been the pin coming out. Its either been kept quiet or Im not on the ball?
Guys, check your tail, I'll get it in from the car in a mo and take a pic for you but Im just trying to find out about sourcing the "upgrade"/new part.

As Maj said I had the crown gear on my Faifa strip today so completely lost the tail and still not sure how I saved it but luckily had a better outcome as apart from the crown gear no other damage done. Horrible when they go in though.

Yea its rubbish lol. I was vertical and about 20ft up and didn't catch it in time. Glad yours got down OK.
I had a similar issue on the Faifa ages ago. Lost the tail and landed perfectly while it was spinning lol, must be the heli

For autos, yes. But if Ben had tried "rescue mode", the motor would have remained driven and the pirouette would have become faster and faster with the heli still plummeting towards the earth ...Originally posted by electricsceadu View Postif you are high enough the piro isn't a problem on an auto in which tail drive has failed

the subject strayed onto autos with the heli piroing
hence my answer
with motor power the piro will continue and the rescue function would be into overtime without much luckHirobo Turbulence D3

Yup - agreed!Originally posted by electricsceadu View Postthe subject strayed onto autos with the heli piroing

Raises an interesting thought though doesn't it about what your instinct should be in an emergency. Before rescue mode systems, everyone learnt to hit TH as an automatic reaction. I wonder if some are learning to hit "rescue" instead - which might not always be the right thing!?
