Today was not good. Had an awful cross wind and thats not good as once motoring along I cant correct it without losing massive amount of speed. So I only managed 224kmh. I need lots more practice I guess if Im gonna keep up with the big boys. If its a wind from the left or right of the field thats fine but these crosswinds are dangerous. Twice now I have flown in crosswinds and the model has been blown over my shoulder therefore having to abandon the run. Considering I only been doing this since what, Oct/Nov time I dont think Im doing bad but still got so much to learn.
Bring on AIR
Crosswinds require the helicopter to fly a farther distance between the start and finish lines due to the need to fly upwind to stay on course. During our run at IRCHA, we had a crosswind that contributed to a lower than expected speed. And the crosswind is present on the upwind and downwind passes, so it does not get cancelled out.
