i find the 300cfx a good size for my local fields. If by park you mean a town park with lots of families, kids etc, then I agree - anything above 130 size is probably out of place.

300 or 450 in a quiet sports field away from picnicking families though is ok I find.

But do make sure that you have permission to fly there from the landowner. If not then your insurance (you do have insurance don't you?????) may be invalid. Many sports fields are local authority owned and you may find that there is a byelaw prohibiting model flying. Worth checking first

In my case, it's the local uni field which is also used with permission by the uni RC flying soc.

Seems there is more to it than buying the right outdoor helicopter

Insurance wise, there's basically the BMFA or RCHA. Personally I'm a bmfa member. 450man is right about getting permission if you're flying outside a club. To a certain extent it's common sense and and good old courtesy. I tend to avoid public parks, but I think a 300 or 250 is ok in a quiet sports field if flown with care and consideration

I fly my MCPX in my local park but tend to do it early morning when there are less people/dogs about. Dogs are a real issue when flying a heli as they love to jump up at it and it makes landing difficult. If I become aware of a dog in the field I tend to land asap and not fly until I am sure it is well away.

I won't fly my 450 or bigger in a public space. Simply too dangerous if it goes wrong.

As Tom says... just basic common sense really

                Yeah, common sense

seen utube videos of dogs etc getting hit by helicopters!!!!!

thats why I just want to stay indoors......

out of interest, after checking my set up for my Cpx I realised that I have not changed anything for the Msrx..
is there a need to on the Msrx??
I will of course on the Cpx but was wondering if I should on the Msrx?

Look on YouTube and you'll find all kinds of horrors for just about anything in this world. Thousands of car crashes for example, but we all still drive our cars.

like I say, common sense should see you ok.

for example, on my channel you'll find loads of vids of me flying in public areas, but as far as I remember, no scary scenarios! Http://www.youtube.com/user/tomatwalden/videos

Thanks Tom. Will look into it when I am ready to look at outdoor helis but at the moment I have a lot on my plate with the Msrx and cpx now.
