  • How to use the Blade CX2 Transmitter with FMS..

    Hi all,

Sorry if this has already been posted but I've come across some information on the web that allows the LP5DSM transmitter that comes with the Blade CX2 to work with the free FMS simulator software.

The only cable you need is a audio 3.5mm male to male cable. This plugs inbetween your Blade CX2 transmitter (hole on the back) and the line in/mic in on your laptop/desktop pc.

You will need the FMS software from:
    http://n-old.ethz.ch/student/mmoeller/fms/index_e.html

You will also need the SmartProPlus console from:
    http://www.smartpropoplus.com/BlueAndGrey/default.asp

This program will convert the audio tones from your Blade CX2 TX into a joystick input that FMS will recognise.

The information on the second link will also give you a step-by-step guide of getting the TX working with FMS.

As part of the calibration on FMS you have to setup the channels from the TX to the controls on FMS. This took a little working out but to save you the hassle point your browser at the following link for a screenshot of the mapping settings. You will still have to calibrate your TX to FMS.

I've only just got this working and there a only a couple of Heli's on FMS. If anyone knows of the CX2 for FMS file, please let me know.

Hope this information is useful to someone, it may save spending lots of $$ on other applications.

    Thanks

    Matt

What are the general opinions on FMS, is it any good?

I suppose you get what you pay for but then again, FMS is free!

I wanted to get it working because of the 3D models. I really wanted to see how well I could fly a 3D heli after spending some time flying my CX2.

There are other sims that are better, more realistic, so I have heard but I personally have only seen FMS.

        Cheers

                Cheers Matt,

Got this up and running with a few minor changes to the mappings, on an old XP system; tried it on Vista U but it didn't play ball.

Its given me more opportunity to get to grips with the controls, since using it I've managed to fly successfully without taking out the light shades.
Cheers Steve. (CX2 Crash test dummy) Sokay, d'nt urt...

                Running repairs:
                1 New Rear Body.
1 New Inner Shaft & Gear.
                1 New Skid.
                8 Upper blades.
                5 Lower Blades.

                  No worries.... ;-)

Just out of interest, what problems were you having with Vista? I have hdd with vista on it for one of my laptops but I didnt test it on that, only XP (MC edition to be precise)...

Were you having problems with FMS, if so what were they? Or was it issues with the SmartP program?

                  Cheers...

I have Vista Ultimate 32bit on a Gig PackBell EasyNote, Vista Rating 1.0.

It's the SmartP bit; config console doesn't display an audio source despite the fact that the sound card works fine. Could be cos its a Packard Bell.

Additionally, because of this I think; when I go to FMS > controls and click the mapping button I get an error. Access violation, winmm.dll

I just saw a video on youtube where someone had FMS working on Vista.

The information provided was as follows:

                      Download d3drm.dll from www.dlldump.com

Then copy it to the c:\windows\systems32 folder.

                      Anyone care to try?

                      Thanks,

                      Matt
