  • 450x battery connector type?

I'm about to upgrade to a 450x but I can't seem to find any info about what battery connector it uses. I'm looking to get a charging cable/board to use with an iCharger 106B+ « ElectriFlyer, and some more batteries so I can charge up to 6 of them at once, but I don't know what type of cable/board to get or what batteries give the best price/performance point.

I'd be really grateful if somebody could please point me to the relevant multi charge cable/board I'll need for the stock battery and a good upgrade battery to use that has the same connector so I can charge them all at once.

I'm a little lost on this and I could do with ordering it all soonish so any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    Re: 450x battery connector type?

They use an EC3 conector mate . As for batteries you can get the blue Turnigys from HobbyKing fitted with EC3 or buy whatever batteries you like & just solder the conectors on yourself as for a parralell charge board it depends really what you want to pay , you can get them from about £10 up to £50 for a Par board . I dont paralell charge myself so cant really comment on what is best but you can get the lot from any of the big heli retailers ie alighntrex.co.uk midland fastlad etc . Hope this helps a bit . Rob

I must be going blind as I can't seem to find them, they all seem to have XT60 connectors. Could you point these out please?

Again, these seem have XT60 connectors everywhere I look unless it's twice the price. Where do you get yours?

I'd like to get them from the UK if possible. Cheers.

They do seem to be fitted with xt60 now , you used to get a choice in that they sold them with either . The ec3 are very easy to solder on & theres even vids on H.H & utube on fitting them . Electriflyer used to give you the option as well but i think they may just supply them now for you to fit . Have a look at the vids though mate & see for yourself im not any great solderer but find them easy enough to do . Rob

Yep, Rob's right. Electriflyer will supply the EC3 connector, but you'll need solder it on yourself.

I've just swapped 6 Lipo's over to EC3's, i prefer them as a connector over the XT60, they are SO easy to solder too so it's not really an issue.

Just chop the positive lead first, strip back about 4-5mm of insulation, fill the top of EC3 connector with nice hot solder and then put the wire in, wait for it to cool, insert that one into the blue holder then it's protected from shorting against the other one, then repeat for the negative side, takes a couple of minutes per battery, if that

Or if your not fussed what connector type you have on the ESC, just hange that over to an XT60 and all your batteries will fit without mods

I tried EC3s when I first got my 450X and didn't like them as much as the XT60. I find them more difficult to install. The soldering is easy, as you say, but I found pushing them into the plastic a bit hit and miss. The XT60 is just as easy to solder IMO without all the snapping in business.

So I change over the ESC to XT60 and leave the batteries alone.

Thanks, so if the batteries with the right connector are that much more expensive I'll probably be best off just changing the connector on my heli and stock battery to XT60 with this 1 PAIR Of RC XT60 Lipo Battery Connectors With Heatshrink 1 x Male 1 x Female UK | eBay

Could somebody please point out which batteries I should get from hobbykings UK warehouse that will fit under the stock canopy as I'm lost in a sea of sizes and C ratings and its hurting me going through it all (my hands cause me a lot of pain when I'm using a computer). I'd really appreciate it, thanks.

All these will be fine. They are the 25C versions which are the ones I use on my 450X but I don't do 3D. If I were doing 3D I would probably get the 30C rated.

You can use any 2200mah 3S on the 450X but I would suggest that you go with 25C or 30C.

Thanks for the help everyone. I've now ordered my 450x (arriving tomorrow) and charger, batteries, cables etc (arriving on Fri).

Does the bnf version come with a psu for the supplied stock charger? If not can I use a EFLC4000 12V 1.5A psu with the stock charger so I can fly it before the other bits arrive on Friday?

                        Cheers.

IIRC, the BNF comes with a basic balancing charger, but no PSU for it (only a set of crocodile clips).

The lipos are 2200mah, so 1C charge rate would be 2.2amps. So a 1.5amp charger would take a long time. Assuming the connector fits.
