  • big vibration in idle up?

Hey all, im currently having problems with my 450x
The heli flew sweet until a couple of weeks ago when I had a main shaft fail in flight, the heli was roughly 30ft up when the shaft let go sending head assembly and blades one way and the heli falling the other lol
I have since replaced all servos for savox, new main and feathering shafts, ally follower arms, new boom, landing gear etc etc
Basically 90% of the heli is new again (was only a month old anyway)
The heli flies smooth and as before in normal mode but as soon as i hit idle up (80% stg1 100% stg2 on my dx8) the heli begins to vibrate quite violently and banks to the right?! Has anyone else had problems like this or maybe have any suggestions that may cure my poorly 450? Lol
Any help would be greatly appreciated
    Thanks in advance
    Dan

Some sort of blade tracking? My 4503d starts to bank right in idle up too

I did wonder that at first but I have since checked the pitch on both blades with a digital gauge and tried 2 different pairs of blades. I guess it wouldnt hurt to double check thanks

Hi, check the tail drive gear assembly, make sure it's not been bent or loose and check all the bearings for damage. Check the belt tension as well. If it still vibrates then flip the belt off and see if the vibration goes without the tail on. If its smooth then you know the issue is the tail\boom area.

Hi, It's the beastx picking up vibrations that's making it tilt, check the tail drive gear assembly, make sure it's not been bent or loose and check all the bearings for damage. Check the belt tension as well. If it still vibrates then flip the belt off and see if the vibration goes without the tail on. If its smooth then you know the issue is the tail\boom area.

Sorry for the double post, bloody iPad :-)

Lol not a problem bud thank you, the tail drive is one of the only things i havnt checked to be honest! I had thought possibly a main shaft bearing could be damaged aswel. I noticed a small crack in the lower frame this afternoon near the esc, did think it could have just been the landing gear wobbling, its not a pretty repair but its solid, but made no difference to how it flies lol
I have a new main frame at home and quite a few spares but im actually on holiday at the moment, helis had to come with us haha!!
Nearest heli shop is about 35 miles away i just need to find a way to trick the mrs into going lol

Think it's your tail that's the issue. The tail drive gear may be loose in its bearings which is why the heli is vibrating and upsetting the FBL unit. Change the pad the beastx sits on as well for some decent stuff, the stock is like a sponge. http://www.fast-lad.co.uk/store/prod...ducts_id=12509 I used the pad that came with a mini vbar for another heli. When you tighten the belt in needs the tension should be set so the belt just about reaches half way to itself. Use a hex driver to push it in the hole where the boom meets the frame. Just fire the heli up without the blades and tail boom attached. Think you'll find it won't tilt. Its just a proceess of elimination. I decked mine and had the exact issues your having. In my case it was the tail gear meeting the main gear that was the issue. Keep going you'll fix it.

                    Cheers

                      Wicked dude thank you
The belt tension should about right then lol although a bit of a headache to get right with the ally tail case as it has no locators for the holes in the boom! Fingers crossed il have chance to check it all out before the light fades tonight, theres an air show on western beach 2moro i had hoped to go to, would have been nice to take the 450 lol
Many thanks again mate i will let you know if this works!

No worries, dont spend too much on the upgrades. The heli is excellent out of the box, plus when you deck it ££££££ will go up quicker than using the stock bits. Make sure you check the tail gear near the main gear though as I reckon that could be your vibe issue. Let us know how it goes.

                        Cheers

                          Will do bud
Havnt gone mad with upgrades, i got the tail case thrown in when i bought the heli, i bought ally main blade grips as it was my only heli without them lol othar than that the only changes are the savox servos x4, trex 500 landing gear and some sab main blades. Was perfect until the main shaft failed.. I wouldnt mind so much if i had stacked it myself, its so annoying that i was sold a faulty £4-5 part and its cost me over £100 (including servos) to try and fix it!! I did send my faulty/damaged parts back to horizon via my local shop but so far havnt heard a thing!!
Will try the tail gear later anyway dude thanks again

These things happen Im afraid, had a battery strap beak on a maiden once on my x50. £140 to fix. Part and parcel of this hobby. Get it fixed and back in the air. Be rewarding when you do.
