Are aluminium upgrades worth it. Don't they just transfer the energy of a crash to other parts? I have a B4503D

Apart from changing the blades I would leave as stock. They fly great out the box after you've checked everything and personally I'd rather save the money for my bigger helis. The 450's are cheap to repair and most upgrades just add weight and are for bling in my opinion, but, each to their own as they say :-)

Very true, also in a very mild crash/heavier than planned landing lol there is a fine line on some parts between ally bending or plastic snapping! Its not hard to pick up light damage to the ally parts that may go un noticed, buy make the heli fly like a dog, whereas plastic would have gone undamaged. More so on smaller helis but for all i know it could be something like this causing my vibration problems

Still no joy!
Since my last post i have replaced the following
Main frame
Boom
Tail drive block, gear and bearings
Tail drive belt
Boom supports
Main shaft and bearings!
Have tested the heli again, running it up on the ground at 0 pitch first, and still the heli vibrates in idle up
The vibration isnt nearly as bad as before so i may have cured part of the problem but i really am stuck now!
I spoke with someone at horizon yesterday about the failed shaft and other damaged parts which they never received so i will have some strong words for my local shop tomorrow! Im also in two mimds as to just sending the heli back to horizon and letting them check it out?!
More trouble than its worth this 450 lol

Sorry to hear this, did you use the tape I sent you in a link? Have you tried running it without the tail on as well?

Hey dude, no i did see the link but will have to order some when im home. Managed to get to a shop, mrs didnt really approve but did still buy me a canopy lmao the best they had was the original spektrum tape!
I had already put the boom in when i remembered so i ran it up without the tail blades, no head etc and it seemed fine, fitted head, main and tail blades and again still no vibration.
Same in the air, i have 60% throttle in normal, in which it flies fine (just obviously no 3d) then 80% stg1 100% stg2 and it shakes like a cold alcoholic lol like i say the vibration isnt as bad and it doesnt bank right anymore but the skids and tail fin a a blur so i dont trust it not to shake itself to bits!
Like i say i may just send it back to horizon and hope they can tell me where im going wrong, at least they can cast an eye over the beastx aswel

Still try and swap the tape as a last resort. The beastx is pretty sensitive and although I pretty much think I knew the cause of the vibration on my heli the stock tape is awful amd swapping it really helped.

Just as a matter of interest, you say the main shaft failed....do you mean the head block mounting bolt (Jesus bolt) snapped or such like....have never heard of a main shaft failing....steel rod with a hole on each end....????

Sorry just seen last reply. I mean the main shaft itself snapped at the top bolt, the top inch of the shaft stayed inside the head block and the whole head assembly, blades etc came away from the heli complete leaving just the inch of shaft above the swashplate, il try upload a pic. The heli was about a month old and uncrashed until the shaft just broke about 3 mins into my first flight of the day, being honest im not the most experienced pilot but am capable of some mild 3d, other ones iv seen look to take more abuse than i could probably give it
