Getting really fed up with the 130x now tbh.
bought a 2nd hand bog standard off the shelf heli, but after a couple of wks realised it had the crappy mainboard.
can I send it back to hh?
Anyway found a fix on YouTube using subtrims not brilliant but it works.
as a relative newbie crashes came thick and fast resulting in numerous breakages and resulting upgrades.
rakon swash loved it but broke it. Micro heli not so good as seems heavy especially with dfc arms. Seems to drop really quickly as throttle dropped so ran 0.80.80.80.80 but then pitch wasn't brilliant running now 40.60.80.90.100 but still seems to drop fast.
anyway then upgraded tail servo to the Ds one after crashed servo. Result forever trying to get it to stop wagging or spinning on spool up/down. On power down descent tail flicks left and up save power up tail drives right.
then upgraded metal drive and the new metal tail gears resulting in coffee grinder noise. So bought carbon tt rod rubbish don't bother as they rd off on cogs!!.
Broke tail grips so upgraded to micro heli wieghted ones think they are def positive upgrade as no issues.
and managed to break 3 booms and 2 fins. And that's using throttle hold.
total cost of upgrades......
£130 and still rising with solid carbon mainshaft and now broken skids and after tail blow out new frame broke at canopy mount and popped ends off both cyclics.
so I think I really should get a diff hobby. Not the worst flyer in the world many hrs of SIM time, figure of 8s loops etc but the bloody 130x wont stay still on hovers sits there for 5seconds then decides it wants to either drop or slide.
and so fragile I keep asking myself do I really need the constant fix....
I have a blade msr x that I learnt on had more crashes and only ever replaced skids and blade grips I know its smaller therefor lighter but not when you hit the wall at full pitch side on and still it comes back for more.
I can drop 130x from 12" and something always breaks......

The MCPx or nano makes a better CP trainer in my opinion. Or go bigger and get something more stable. The 130x is great once you have mastered hovering/circuits. I love mine!

130 is a great heli, but one that requires a fair amount of time to sort once things start to go wrong. Upgrades are all very well, but personally i believe apart from the tail pitch slider (which HH have now improved) the upgrades only mean more durability rather than improvement. I have spent about 2 hours fixing mine today, firring the spin motor and resoldering the main board and a servo as the wires had become so worn. It's fiddly and frustrating, but seriously cheap compared to trashing a 450 size heli.

For me, i think it is far less trouble than a mcpx and just as durable. I spent forever fiddling with my mcpx and never got any really decent flying out of it.

Hey Stevek32, well after reading all you have written, i gotta say the 130x is a brilliant heli, BUT!, its gotta be kept out of the dirt, once a 130x goes in you really must treat it like a 450 or bigger heli, and check every single thing before flying it again,

every single issue with the model you tell us about is the result of crashing! real sorry to say this, but no heli is designed to crash ! some fair better than others thats true, and a light weight fixed pitch heli is more likely to come out with less damage on average, but the performance difference is totally chalk and cheese and they are not in the same league at all. ANY heli that is collective pitch that is capable of aerobatics will not stay still. [PERIOD] 99.99% of the time they will do EXACTLY what they are told to do, by the Tx stick

Strangely Heli flying is what i can only compare to golf , the concept is dead easy, but for beginners its easy to end up in the rough, and the ball/heli goes where ever it wants, until you cross the threshhold, then a whole new world opens up, these hobbies can be totally frustrating, some times it takes a long while and a lot of practice to get to a good standard, but the rewards can be great, and every now and then it bites back
