Hello

Took my 130X out for a spin this morning. Its a bright blue day but cold about -2'C...

I took 3 batteries, my stock 35C 300 mAh, My overlander 40C 450mAh and a thunder 65C 325mAh

I warmed all batteries in my pocket and in my hands before the flights, and decided to start with the stock battery, with my timer at 4min.

So the stock had good performance to start with but died in the air at 2min 30sec and the heli fell out of the sky. Luckilly no damage at all...

Then I went to the overlander, this flew great, better power than the stock and kept going at constant power until the 4 mins was up and still felt like it had plenty more to give! By far my favourite choice for the day.

The Thunder went off like the clappers loads of power way more in fact but had no stamina it shot down in power to weaker than stock after about 1min 30 sec but held in that steady space until the 4 mins was up. You could still fly well and performed ok just felt weak.

So I will wait for a warm day if we get any this year and try the test again and see what happens. Up til now the stock battery has been fine. The overlander is always great and its the first time I have flown the thunder.

The only problem with the over lander is the shape its not such a snug fit like the thunder and the stock battery. But I am sure I can live with that if its the best for flying

I run the Overlander 450's, i know what you mean about the shape but i think i'm going to invest in the spin motor so i can move them further up the battery tray in one crash i had the battery punch holes in the canopy, not ideal... My timer is set to 5:30 and i'm putting roughly 290-300mah back in to the packs, no hard 3d or anything, just flying around, loops, rolls and some flips etc

An upgraded brushless, it's much shorter than the stock motor and doesn't protrude up through the frames like the standard motor does. HERE

I use the heavy but cheap gens ace 450mah packs with a spin 8000kv motor

The spin motor is excellent imo, loads of power and I can put the batteries almost upto the front servo link which makes it balance much better

Thats good to know, i think i'll opt for that when payday comes around

Don't buy a pinion, I have a spare one you can have for the cost of the postage to you

I'm sure a few people have said they come with one but suppliers don't seem to list if their is one in there or not?

Is this motor plug n fly? Or do you need to mod the frame? Is the built in esc able to arm with this motor? Sounds like a great upgrade? It would make the overlander batteries a great fit then!

It is plug and fly, i think the frame needs modding to fit but nothing too drastic, just the hole in the battery tray where the standard motor is made bigger so it can fit through, i've not done it yet so cant say how much for sure.

Standard ESC is said to be fine as long as the throttle curves are kept down below 80%, it seems 75% flat is popular and gets good reviews, i'll look in to that more when the time comes
