warranty issues?

Hi all,

I think i remember reading that somewhere that horizon had said if you changed the connector on the esc that it will invalidate any warranty etc as its classed as a modification.
Anyone have any issues with this?
I have bought 5 gens ace 450 lipos and i was going to change the heli connector to jst but i am not sure whether to do that now and just buy the adaptor

I'm just doing this myself,
I'm going to use an adapter to avoid upsetting HH should it have to go back

Buy the adapter. This is pretty much exactly what HH said to me over the phone:

"We may not be able to replace your heli as you have technically modified it by changing the connector".

The only problem with the adapter is that then you are stuck with no parallel charging again and also it's annoying to have to over complicate things.

The gens ace aren't that good anyway they are far too heavy for any kind of 3D - 23-25g is the best weight for it I think - the gens ace are just over 30 (although they definitely are cheap at £2.50 per pack!).

Meh, just desolder the pins from the plug, that way if you ever need to send it back all that's required is a quick resolder of the original plug pins and no ones the wiser

Why would using the adaptor affect the charging? surely you just unplug it and charge as normal?
isnt it just a umx one end and a jst the other?

Change of plan A friend of mine has a bag of 130x type male and female connectors so i'm going to chop the connectors off the batteries and put some 130x ones on

I just brought the connectors and soldered them to a jst plug so then I could still charge my packs and not cut the plug on the esc.

dig around on Ebay, a bag of 50 males and females are available for just a few pounds , and they crimp on too so its dead easy, the gensace do benifit from a diet as mentioned above, best weight i have found so far is 20g this really does let the electronics get on with its job rather than overcome a CofG issue

the gensace 450 once stripped and rewired gets to within 1.8g of stock cell, its mighty powerful too, but just a tad heavy for the fussy ones

the overlander 350x40 once stripped is slightly less than stock and more powerful

the miniaviation is mega light at 18g and flies really really well but is slightly less powerful than stock

stock cell stripped is good, loosing another 1.7g

What exactly do you strip off the battery? Just all the wrapping?
